First off, I wanted to thank all of the regular contributors for the fantastic poll suggestions over the last few years to this board. You're welcome, it was our pleasure [yes]
I'm posting to let you know that today's poll (April 18, 2012) will be the last featured on our homepage. It came as a big schock but we had no choice except to resign and accept this decision.
IMDb's first Daily Poll ran on October 25, 1999, at the height of The Blair Witch Project's breakout success. What's that got to do with the Daily Poll?
While the Daily Poll has served its purpose well during that pre-social media time, it is no longer an efficient way for us to share a wide range of poll questions. So, just because social media is ruling the Internet, a movie website can't afford to ask questions about movies to its users? Should everything have a purpose? How about entertainment? How about the Movie's quote or the Hit-List?
For the past year, we have been running polls on our Facebook page and found it is a great way to survey our audience's opinions. If you say so.
If you have yet to Like our Facebook page, we encourage you to do so since our focus now will be on posting polls there. And what if we didn't Like? or care to Like? what if we don't have a Facebook page?
(Note: Facebook's polls only allow for a maximum of 10 choices.)Yet it enables to share a wide range of poll questions? "only allow" "wide range" ... I smell a contradiction.
This board will remain open, and we encourage you to continue discussing your favorite movies, TV shows, filmmakers, and performers here.We do, but most people came for the IMDb Daily Poll, so even if we come to suggest a discussion, there won't be many users to discuss with.
We may even continue to pluck a suggestion out to post on FacebookYou're too good, but it's been two months almost, and there wasn't a poll suggested, and once in five days or one week isn't the best way to encourage us.
(with creator credit given, as always). What for? the users are known within IMDb, not Facebook. And the regulars only care of having their polls on IMDb, after all, how can we check the results of a previous poll, or create our personal history of polls selected, like we used to do. Let's face it, the Golden Age is over...
Thank you very much for your understanding and all of your contributions in the past. You're welcome.
We look forward to reading and continuing to share (albeit in a slightly different way) great movie,'slightly' is an understatement
TV and celebrity questions with multiple-choice answers now and in the years to come.Nah, we know it's over ... [eyes]
