Top 10 Dystopian Films
The future is a very open environment to explore. The possibilities are endless. Everytime you fall asleep, you will have no idea exactly when or where you will wake up. You can't predict with an absolute certainty how things are going to turn out. That's one aspect of the future that I have always admired, unpredictability. It gives freedom to explore a whole new world that appears alien or impossible to us, but yet is approaching closer to reality as technology evolves. It might not take place in our universe of reality, or timeline for that matter, but below are what I consider to be the best examples of dystopian futures. - DirectorRintarôStarsMasako NozawaMasako IkedaYôko AsagamiThe adventures of a brave young boy who travels from planet to planet in a determined quest to avenge his mother's death.by mjf314

20 under 20. The 20 best Movies of past two decades.
Checking out more than 4000 movies, following is the list of those which touched me in a sense that every movie lover would go to cinemas to be touched. Visually , Intellectually and artistic. More than a triumph, these movies are accomplishments of those who took an idea and shaped it into a applause worthy work of art. Oscar Buzz Presents: The Return of the Top 250
HAPPY 20TH ANNIVERSARY IMDb!
Oscar Buzz Presents: The Return of the Top 250
(a film poll for fanboys and fangirls of all ages)
The purpose of this poll is to shine a light on the decerning tastes of fellow buzzers in a show of movies that correspond closely with their personal definititions of good filmmaking in the hopes that the list will serve as a moderatly acurate depiction of a buzzers taste in general. It's also an excuse to celebrate what Oscar Buzz would deem as exceptional cinema. While it's near immpossible to fully represent the taste of everyone who inhabits this glorious message board, it's possible we will come across a film or two that is enjoyed by both those who voted and those who didn't.
One thing to note is the regualar occurance of ties for placement between films. This is especially evident from films #200 to #150. The total number of films featured in this list is 233. There are 35 ties in all, with the highest ammount of films tying for one spot being three. In total 290 films make the final list.
In regards to poll data, The Oscar Buzz Top 250 was compiled from 74 top 100 movie ballots sent to me by various users from Oscar Buzz between the months of May and July 2010. This poll was also open to the users of Film General and Lists and Recomendations message boards for the month of June as a way to create diviersity and ensure different results are achieved from the list. OUtsourcing was also necessary to achieve a higher ammount of ballots necessary for presenting a top 250 with out having endless ammount of ties.
This list was presented on Thursday, September 2nd, 2010 at 12:00pm on the Oscar Buzz Message Board on IMDb.com.

Movies and Shows for Skeptics
In your typical screen fare, omens prove true, ghosts are real, monsters do exist, psychics are genuine, superstition is accurate, extraterrestrials are here, conspiracy theorists have the truth, God works in mysterious but irrefutable ways while skeptics are forced to change theirs or fall victim to divine retribution, blood-soaked fangs, malicious poltergeists, path-crossing black cats, sinister government forces and the like. But sometimes we get a different point of view.

The 10 Best Documentary Villains
I think it's safe to say that though the documentary style of filmmaking has been around for a while, it has taken an unexpected rise in the 21st century, and a whole slew of recent documentary films have become beacons for specific social and political movements like never before. This newly popularized style of muckraking is no doubt powerful, and the most effective of these films really bend and fold the reality into a dramatic narrative in a way that speaks directly to its audience. But at the root of every problem is an antagonizer, someone or something that pulls the strings, and it's usually the role of the documentary to call these adversaries out and expose their wrongdoings to the entire world. When done right, these evildoers enter the realm of some of the greatest and most memorable movie villains ever – Hannibal Lecter, Dracula, Darth Vader, HAL 9000, and so on. So, here it goes – my list of the 10 best documentary villains.

Top Time Travel Films
One of my favorite genres, especially if I don't know it's a time travel film on the way in (which was the case with Primer).

Unsolved Mysteries
[link]http://classywithatouchofsleaze.blogspot.com/2010/09/unsolved-movie-mysteries.html[/link]
Mystery is probably one of the most popular genres of film, and also one of the oldest - the first true 'mystery' movie can be dated all the way back to 1903 with "The Great Train Robbery." Being a fairly established genre, a mystery movie follows a general set of rules, but the most imperative one of all is that something which is at first hidden or unknown must be revealed. The timing of this revelation is a matter of dramatic choice; typically it serves as the climax of the movie, the point where suspense breaks and the audience can breathe a sigh of relief. It's the thrill of discovery that makes these movies so much fun - we all want to think we're smarter than everyone else, and whether we do it consciously or not, we all like to search for covered truths, especially in film. So what do we do with the movies that don't play by the rules? Leaving a mystery unsolved or incomplete is probably considered one of the greatest narrative faux pas ever, and the idea of neglecting closure on a mystery is so out of touch with popular mindset that Hollywood has all but ruled out the idea. Still, that mindset didn't stop some renegade directors from crafting these sinister movies that boggle the mind and leave it boggling long after the credits roll. This isn't some cheap trick - in almost every instance, for what we don't learn in the story, we learn something deeper on a fundamental human level - a truth about ourselves and the limits of what can even be known as truth. Woah man. So, here we go - my 10 favorite unsolved movie mysteries: - DirectorRobert MooreStarsPeter FalkAlec GuinnessPeter SellersFive famous literary detective characters and their sidekicks are invited to a bizarre mansion to solve an even stranger mystery.by John J Wong

25 "must see" movies
This list is for wannabe cinephiles.
I tried to include films that match the criteria of "good film" (cinematography, direction, story, acting, costumes, special effects, music, etc.).
After that, I shortened the list trying not to include too many films of a single genre or from a single director.
Finally, I shortened the list choosing films that, for various reason, have to be seen in order to better understand other films and/or references (a lot of jokes, or episodes, from Family Guy, American Dad! and The Simpsons, for example, are films-based).
I know that there are many more "must see" movies but I wanted to make this list as short as possible. - DirectorBryan ForbesStarsAlan BatesBernard LeeHayley MillsWhen an injured wife murderer takes refuge on a remote Lancashire farm, the owner's three children mistakenly believe him to be the Second Coming of Christ.by BERSERKERpoetry

The 10 best Made-for-TV Horror Movies you've probably never heard of...
The 70’s was definitely the golden age of Horror Movies on network TV. Cable was in its infancy and so even sub-par broadcasts could attract 40 to 50 million viewers. This meant two MFTs a week sometimes, thus even the macabre stuff was welcome in prime time. These are specifically chosen for their obscurity. There are certainly better Made-For-Television movies, but none more frighteningly fun. I had to go from memories (of a youth wasted on TV) for many of them – but they were good enough to leave a lasting impression. - DirectorMel BrooksStarsMel BrooksGregory HinesDom DeLuiseMel Brooks brings his one-of-a-kind comic touch to the history of mankind covering events from the Old Testament to the French Revolution in a series of episodic comedy vignettes.by generationofswine
Classroom Hollywood
Some of the movies are too long to show in the classroom, but even showing clips from the films are enough to keep your students entertained, especially if you have the time to show clips for pure entertainment between the lessons. Some are good to assign along with outside reading.
Most of these are geared to the college classroom, but high school teachers might find some of them useful. My classes are always reading, paper, & debate heavy so keep that in mind if you're planing on using any of these, some don't work without the proper texts.
There's also a "showmanship" style to the way I handle my classes, comedy is huge, but I'm not above dressing the part, screaming & yelling, crying, kicking over trashcans, whatever is needed is usually done. I think if you're not willing to go over the top in your classroom, using a lot of movies will probably work against you. - DirectorThom EberhardtStarsCatherine Mary StewartKelli MaroneyRobert BeltranA comet wipes out most of life on Earth, leaving two Valley Girls fighting against cannibal zombies and a sinister group of scientists.by dragonsi

My Top 10 Superior Sequels
When are we gonna learn, folks, that sequels just can't live up to the hype? Les Nouveaux Films Maudits: Misunderstood Classics for a 21st Century
What is a "film maudit"? It is, literally, an "accursed film". Coined in 1949 by the Festival du Film Maudit, headed by Jean Cocteau, it described and celebrated a brand of film of either troubled origins and reception, or of shocking and provocative content. It included the likes of L'Atalante, The Shanghai Gesture, Fireworks and Rome Open City. Now, as we enter the 21st century, it is time for a new festival for those films that Cocteau and co. missed. Misunderstood, controversial, hated, often forgotten... These are films that have been unjustly maligned by an ignorant press, and neglected by a misinformed public. Films whose reputations are well known, but which themselves are rarely seen. Or films who have never been given the chance to build a reputation, locked away in archives largely unseen. Old films and new film. Films of great talent and remarkable vision that are ripe for discovery in the coming years.
And for those who scoff at the list, I must only remind you of the likes of Greed, Rules of the Game, Le Corbeau, The Magnificent Ambersons, Monsieur Verdoux, Lola Montes, Vertigo, Peeping Tom. All failures and fiascoes in their own day. Now, all considered among the greatest. Remember, the history of film and its canon is always being rewritten. Not all these films are masterpieces (although some are), but all deserve their place in film's history. 25 Most Startling Independent or Foreign Directorial Debut Features

Creative Titles
Titles that cataches your attention, are out of the ordinary or just plain long. I've tried to include titles that do not get them from other sources such as their original books or plays. I've also tried to avoid titles that are long just because they are descriptive.

The 53 Sexiest Movies Ever Made
Normally, I lean towards the classics when deciding what to watch. However, my guilty pleasures are sexy romances. Not erotica, but movies where you really shouldn't watch with other people. So, in no particular order, here are "the sexiest movies ever made." NOTE: I understand there are some unofficial super sexy movies out there i.e., Out Of Sight, His Girl Friday, When Harry Met Sally, Body Heat, Basic Instinct, Gone With The Wind, Dirty Dancing, Unfaithful etc. However, I have never seen them (I have a life that doesn't only involve watching movies), therefore, they are not included. Also, movies that are considered to be the most romantic movies of all time that I HAVE seen, i.e., Casablanca, Pretty Woman, Shakespeare In Love, Romeo And Juliet, Eternal Sunshine Of A Spotless Mind, and West Side Story, are not included on here because I honestly found them to be incredibly romantic, but not incredibly "sexy."
