- The awards are given since 1983 and honor achievements in Finnish television broadcasting.
- Every year another Finnish TV channel is host to the event.
- The original statuette (1983-2002) was designed by 'Simo Salminen'. In 2003 a new statuette design by Hannu Peltonen is introduced.
