- On a dark night John, a widower of several years, sits down to eat his dinner as he normally would. However, he takes no pleasure in it. He is living for the sake of living rather than because he wants to. He watches television and sits sipping tea in front of a fire. He does little other than walk around his dark, gloomy and empty house. But this evening is a little different as he is visited by his estranged nephew. Alex, John's nephew on his now dead wife's side, comes to check on him. He expresses fear that John is no longer really living, and hasn't left his house on a very long time. John, angry at his nephew shouts at him to leave. Without another word, Alex walks out dismayed he wasn't able to help his uncle. A storm has started to brew outside, rain pouring down outside. John prepares to get into bed. But this is the time of day John usually fears. Now alone, with the gale outside, John's face starts to turn pale. He washes his face before taking his jewelry off and placing it on the bedside table. The door handle shakes. John turns to look, he shouts, but there is no reply. Now he falls back onto his bed, starting to dread what is behind the door. He reaches for his phone only to find it's gone. He turns and mutters the only thing he can think it to be. "Lenore?", he whispers, before standing up and looking to the window for an escape. He moves towards the window only to be greeted with the sound of bird wings fluttering. With another strike of lightning he falls to his knees, begging. He backs away, screaming in fear and horror, apologizing for what he had done. He hopes in some way he can be forgiven for everything.
- A young man and his friend sign up for the war and then find out how bad it actually is.
