- "Capo" Matteo Zanchetti finally knows who is behind the attack on him: Mafia boss Saffione, who holds the commissioner responsible for the death of his son and daughter. In order to protect his partner Sonja as well as colleagues and relatives from the revenge of his archenemy, Matteo sees only one way out: He flies to Bari on his own to eliminate the powerful mafia boss. He really wants to keep Sonja out, but shortly afterwards "Mrs. Commissario" also travels to Bari on a private mission. There she is looking for her stepdaughter Laura, who is on a trip to Italy and has not reported for days. What if the young woman got caught up in the dangerous conflict? Sonja cannot count on the local police. Her only support is the helpful taxi driver Riccardo, whom she reluctantly takes into her trust. Meanwhile, Jonas Kerschbaumer wants to use the absence of his bosses in Bolzano to create facts in the investigation against his friend and colleague Sofia. By evaluating the explosives, Sonja comes across an unexpected lead that leads to unexplained attacks by an underground organization from the 1960s: the "South Tyrol Liberation Committee". This belonged to Robert Lanthaler, the father of the ex-police officer Sofia, who was exposed as a mafia informant. Inspector Jonas Kerschbaumer, who fears for her life, is enraged that his girlfriend is linked to the case. Sonja's affair from Bari also plays an opaque role: Riccardo Riello, DIA's undercover investigator, appears as Lagagna's driver in Bolzano. But can Sonja really trust him?

During their investigations, "Capo" Sonja Schwarz and her partner Jonas Kerschbaumer not only come across suspects from the amateur historian scene and a curious journalist, but also an allegedly solved old case. Meanwhile, the undercover agent Riccardo receives a delicate assignment from Mafia governor Lagagna: He is supposed to seduce the respected environmental politician Maria Senoner in order to extort her approval for a gigantic dam project of the Mafia.
