And the prospect is one that does not entirely displease him, as this backwoods offers very little excitement other than the fantastic meals with his cooking-obsessed Grandma or the constant stress with his Beatles-loving Dad. He is supported by Rudi Birkenberger, now a department-store detective but previously with Franz in the Munich detective squad until both were suspended. The Höpfl case gets even more tangled when a second corpse is found, that of a drug-addict hustler with whom Höpfl had been in contact. Franz must also cope with the fact that his Susi is having an affair and he thinks the lover is the Thai offspring of his estranged brother, who is supposed to be their babysitter.
- Doing a good deed just before Christmas Eve is a job for Hubert and Staller! They visit the pensioner Hannelore Eissner, who has not paid her radio license for a year. So that the 85-year-old doesn't get in trouble, the district has collected the missing amount for the senior citizen. However, the elderly woman can no longer be happy about the donation from the police - she is sitting mummified in her armchair and has been for some time. It quickly turns out: The Christmas decoration in the senior citizen's house is from last Christmas! For a year no one had noticed the old lady's death. Pathologist Dr. In view of the stately age of the dead, Fuchs initially assumes a natural death. So it is not a problem that Staller spontaneously says goodbye to a pre-Christmas shopping holiday in Rome after the corpse was found, which he won in a Christmas raffle in the district. But no sooner is Staller sitting on the train than the sobering news comes: The elderly woman has a broken neck! Who put her in her chair in this state? In addition, 400,000 euros, which the old lady withdrew from her account shortly before her death, disappeared without a trace. A robbery shortly before Christmas Eve, that doesn't fit the Girwidz Police Department at all! But Girwidz's trouble is just beginning. When he wants to pick up his unloved mother-in-law from the train station, a Santa Claus rushes down a hill on his sleigh and barely misses his car. The mother-in-law has to wait, the police council brings the injured Santa Claus to the hospital. The wounded man is Georg Obermeier, who was reported missing by his wife a year ago. When Hubert entered the hospital with Katharina Obermeier, her husband disappeared again without a trace. The two remain perplexed. After work, however, another surprise awaits Hubert: 16-year-old Anna, who claims to be his daughter, is standing on his doorstep. He can't bring the young lady to the door and allows her to stay with him first. This, of course, leads to some complications. DNA samples have now shown that it must have been Obermeier who broke into the dead pensioner a year ago and snatched the 400,000 euros. But who broke the pensioner's neck? And why does Obermeier appear again, disguised as Santa Claus, exactly one year later, and then disappear again? The trail leads to the regulars' table of bank advisor Franz Hübner, postman Josef Brenner and butcher Michael Schartl.

Sie will keine Fehler machen. Here, near the Arctic Circle, she retreated and hid from her ex-boyfriend Robert, who stalked her heavily after the relationship ended and almost murdered her. Her sister was Anne's only connection to her old life. For the experienced investigators it is obvious that Robert now knows Anne's hiding place. They travel to Sweden to bring Anne to safety and confront Robert. But Anne refuses to flee again.

But lifeguard Karl (Milan Peschel) cannot and will not accept that his job, where he has been responsible for public order for 30 years, is about to be changed. To save the outdoor pool, he could start a citizens' initiative, for which he would have to collect at least 600 signatures. But that will be difficult, because the remaining swimmers are not on good terms with the pool sheriff. Especially Dr. Rieger (Rick Kavanian) regularly drives Karl crazy. Meanwhile, his Nigerian lifeguard trainee Sali (Dimitri Abold) is well integrated - almost better than Karl. But Sali really only wants to go to Canada. When Sali meets professional swimmer Lisa (Sarah Mahita), he begins to question his plan. Should he stay, help Karl and save Lisa's refuge?

- Ulrich Kainer, an urban hermit and early retiree with a questionable past, realizes that death has firmly set his sights on him. Nobody will miss him, nobody is waiting for him. So he decides to find his last days surrounded by healthy country air in the quiet of a contemplative village. However, he did the math without the village, its inhabitants and the equally badly loaded animals of the forest. A landlord who sells him as a professional killer in the fight against his adversary, a beautiful, but single-parent, affectionate farmer, an avant-garde Nazi troop, extremely angry animals and a commissioner running amok deny him the longingly awaited peace in the country. The country air is full of lead and "nobody dies here today" sounds easier than it is.

Annett Schuster finds religious symbols that refer to the Bible quote "An eye for an eye". When a second body is discovered near an abandoned church, one thing is clear: the investigators are dealing with a serial killer. The search for clues develops into a macabre game between perpetrators and investigators... The unconventional Jan Kawig is a trained carpenter and Thuringian through and through, while the astute criminal psychologist Annett Schuster returns home from the USA after a few years at Boston University. The new team of operational case analysis is headed by Marion Dörner, who prefers flat hierarchies and has to struggle privately with the excesses of her pubescent sons. The team is complemented by coroner Vanessa Sun and detective inspector Sabine Limmer.
