You never forget the first time!
A cliché is in order straight away. Love always prevails over lust.
My heart lurched when I truly understood the premise of the movie and what it tries to illustrate. An emotionally detached person like myself found a heart that I never knew I had! If only things panned out the way I hoped it would pan out...
I cannot emphasise how beautifully made this movie is. The omission of intimate scenes truly reinforces the director's insistence to emphasise that love always prevails over lust. Though at first I was against it and I questioned the motives behind it, I realised after putting myself in their shoes, I would trade anything to just talk to her and feel that sense of youthful exhilaration that your first love gives. You never forget it. You become a nomadic addict, searching for that high you felt the first time, most of the time it doesn't cut it quite like the first time.
A pragmatic yet nomadic man such as the one Vijay Sethupathi depicts is the perfect characterisation from the get go. The protagonist has always been in the pursuit of the right moment for the right shot, the perfect photo, the perfect woman. It is further emphasised when his pragmatism goes out of the window seeing his old sweetheart. He isn't the nomad anymore, he is solely the photographer living in his perfect shot.
I can't truly say this is a tragedy. This is a depiction of pragmatic love. Perfectly requited, yet hopelessly complicated. Probably why it hits the heartstrings of so many viewers.
This is another mogke that emphasises that South Indian is simply slept upon.
This is how to do romance.
This is classy and innocent.
This is beautiful.

Wake up, Hollywood.
Call me delusional.
Call me a sensationalist.
Call me a lunatic.
Nothing will stop me from hyperbolising this masterpiece. When I die, I want a copy of this movie to be cremated alongside me to be watched in my afterlife.
This movie absolutely epitomises how slept upon Tamil cinema truly is. If this was released in English, it would gross a copious amount of money, gain numerous accolades and be stored in a time capsule to be viewed by future generations. It is a hallmark of the talent that is being encouraged in the industry right now and I commend those who back such brilliant minds and favour them over the recycled "mass-era" malarkey.
The movie does a crafty job of building up a likeable character in Arun, a young lad with the enthusiasm to achieve great heights paired with a healthy will to serve. He is not scared to explore his boundaries and think outside the box. He is willing to take chances that nobody else would take and believe in himself when nobody else believes him. His inquisitiveness is his gift but it leads to despicable uncoverings, one that would be taboo in cinema 10 years ago. This character is almost at a parallel with Ram - he is willing to push boundaries.
Special mention to the BGM producers and everybody involved in the sound department. I don't have superlatives to explain how well they have done. From my memory, I can't remember a movie with a such a significant role in enhancing/potentiating the emotion of the movie.
This is not only South Indian cinema.
This is Indian cinema.
Wake up Hollywood.
India is in town.

The Perfect Allegory
It is unbelievable how far Tamil cinema has come in the past 10 years. Gone have the days of the "mass-era" punctuated with a protagonist with a throbbing God-complex and an evil antagonist that must be defeated at all costs.
I believe we are ushering in a new era of Cinema. A change that has been begged for and the pleas have been heard. This is the era for the true cinema lover.
I am so overwhelmed by this movie: the perfect allegory. There is a constant tug of war being played between the antagonist and protagonist as to who has the moral high ground. This interplay is explored and developed upon so well that we realise that the cunning of the cliched cat and mouse game is nothing compared to scale of what can really happen.
This is a vague and generalised summary, rather like representing Mona Lisa as a stick man doodle. Every stroke must be savored and appreciated. This is the art of cinema.
I commend everyone involved for the production of this gem.
This is South Indian cinema. Do not sleep on this.

Valiant attempt
The life of an expat is a very turbulent one. I would know as the son of an expat myself. The Keralan community would have never prospered as quickly as it did without the influence of the GCC states. It has encompassed sides of things I myself have faced being an NRI, such as the feeling of being a tool to facilitate the ease of another man's life, the delusion that life there means a quick buck is a garunteed, and the breakdown of family relationships. The perils of NRI can never truly be encompassed unless you are one and hence why I believe this movie did a seriously commendable job at addressing what it did.
The film is very well made, the acting is excellent and the screenplay is wonderful. It should go down as one of Mammooty's most socially significant movies.

Masterpiece
I have spent many years of my life living under the pleasant blanket provided to me by my circumstances. As a result, I have overlooked many key issues that plague the Indian community due to the firm, dogmatic opinions we are notorious for having, even in the Western world. From my experience, I believe a lot of it does spring from ignorance and sometimes blatant insensitivity we have over things which don't suit our convenience. We are becoming an increasingly selfish world after all. The story in a nutshell is about the relationship between a father, whom prior to the beginning of the movie, was absent in the life of his physically disabled daughter. It explores the social implications of having a spasticated child on not only the parents and the family but the child herself.
I loved everything about the film. Everything. I tip my hat to the writer of this film. I believe that this movie is a significant one to show from another's perspective, how genuinely blessed we are. Do not take life for granted. Learn to love and forever remain compassionate.
