Inglorious Basterds: Stolz der Nation (2009)
Absolutely ridiculous
This short is absolutely ridiculous. There are so many holes in it they should have called it Swiss cheese. There is no way one sniper could kill 300 enemy soldiers in 3 days! After the first 30 or 40 went down, a smart commander would have destroyed the tower. Remember how we destroyed the monastery at cassino? That proves my point. There's no way an entire American army would evacuate an entire because of one sniper! I saw that he shot several American snipers in windows in another building. He would have gotten maybe 2 shots off before he would've been shot himself. It's too bad Tarantino wasted with this monstrosity. I really liked inglorious basterds.
Atomic Blonde (2017)
Better than most people think
This is a terrific action film. Charlize was excellent. Even though the story was fictional, the backdrop of Berlin before the wall came down turned this movie into a powder keg. The action scenes are top notch and the direction is superb. I enjoyed the style of the film, with an impressive 80's soundtrack. The espionage is involved. This film is just as good as the Bourne films and almost as good as the wick films. I won't talk about bond, because that's an entirely different universe. Maybe I'm a little biased because of Charlize, but it's hard to deny that this film is just plain fun! I just can't wait for AB 2!
Der Untergang (2004)
Downfall is a tour de force
This film has such strong emotions. Of course there was hitler, but there are so many others. But I think first and foremost, you have to consider the women who are thrust into this madness! There is eva Braun, Magda goebbels, constance manziarly, and of course hitler's secretary, traudl judge. Alexandra Maria Lara ( as junge) definitely Oscar worthy. Even with everything going around him, hitler keeps shifting the blame from his generals, to the wehrmacht, even the vaunted SS! Finally he blames the German people, stating they didn't have the fortitude to see the war through. Amazingly, he still holds out hope that they can turn everything around with his successor Donitz. I highly recommend this film for all ww2 buffs and people who want to know what it was really like in the fuhrerbunker at the end. I believe this is the most accurate retelling of the story.
Airport '77 (1977)
Serious flub
Yes, there is a serious flub in this movie. At the end when Jack Lemmon goes back in the plane to save his girlfriend eve (Brenda Vaccaro), when they go past the airplane door, you can clearly see a green screen! Despite this mistake, I enjoyed this film. I like all the airport movies mainly because of all the big guest stars who appear in them. Sort of like a love boat of the film industry. I loved seeing Olivia dehavilland, Joseph cotton, Arlene golonka, Pamela Bellwood, Lee Grant, Jack Lemmon, Darren "kolchak" magazine, and of course the dapper Christopher Lee most of all. He was most remembered for playing count Dracula in the hammer films of the 60's and 70's.
Das Boot (1981)
Sheer terror
That's what it was like on a ww2 German U-boat. The incredible emotion in this film are absolutely palpable. When the Raf attack the sub pen, you can't help but to feel bad for them as the captain watches his boat disappear under the water, and then dies. I have to.say this probably the best navy movie ever.
Eroi all'inferno (1974)
A waste of money and time
Omg this movie is just awful. You can actually hear the Italian accent when the nazis speak. You'd think they could have put forth some kind of effort.
Pacific Inferno (1979)
Historically inaccurate
There were no black us navy divers during world War 2. That's just a simple fact. They simply didn't get the opportunity. This movie was just an action vehicle for Jim brown . The filmmakers took dramatic license with things that never happened.
No Time to Die (2021)
Out with a bang
Very entertaining , extremely emotional but I think this should be the last james bond film. Any plan they have of somehow bringing bond back will just be lame and stupid.
Robin Hood (2018)
Not a bad version
I've been reading some of the reviews for this movie and they're pretty brutal. The fight scenes had to be big: every soldier in Nottingham was going after him. As far as the vulgar party, let's face it every period picture has one. It's not the the best version, that goes to error flynns masterpiece. But it's certainly not the worst either. That goes to. Costner debacle.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Better than a lot of people think
I've been reading some of the reviews of this film on idmb. I was pretty taken aback by how many negative reviews there are I mean a LOT if bad reviews a lot of 2 and 3 out of 10! Really? You people thought it was that bad? Well I liked it it's definitely the best of the trilogy. While I agree this trilogy has been pretty disappointing, I believe this film stands out. It was a really inventive storyline and the performance of the actors was emotionally charged. Good Acton scenes as well. As far as these really bad reviews, you people seriously need to lighten up you define the phrase "tough crowd"
