Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018)
The ending!!
I loved sicario 2, it was tightly paced, crunchy action and I thought the story was pretty good. Naturally it goes without saying that a cast with benico del toro and Josh Brolin deliver excellent performances, and I very much liked the way the boy almost being run over in the car park has major repercussions later, I thought that was very nicely done. The reason I gave this 7 stars rather than 8 or 9 is solely down to the ending, as in the very end. I could believe Alejandro could have survived being shot in the cheek, but what annoys me is the decision to show alejandro confronting the boy a year later, no explanation of whether he and Isabelle re united, or how he crossed the border. I was very disappointed and it really let down an otherwise really pretty good movie down.
This Time with Alan Partridge (2019)
Ironic
This time is an often surprising and very funny show for prime time, with enough classic Partridge to keep fans happy. It's somewhat ironic to see all these supposed 'fans' of AP, a notoriously well spoken and clever personality, bashing this programme with such awful grammar and pathetic arguments to support your views.
After Life (2019)
Heartfelt and emotional
I started watching After Life tentatively, as someone who wasn't a huge fan of the Office and Extras, I assumed after life would be another Gervais 'hurts-to-watch'. But instead, After Life was a surprisingly poignant watch. I was hooked by episode two, and ended up binging the rest of the series in the same night.
Some reviews have critisized the writing of the series, although for me, the superb acting and tangible chemistry covered any writing flaws easily. I found myself genuinely crying at certain moments in the show, this served to make the comedy even funnier. Every single character felt fully fleshed out and as if they really were just going about their daily life. One thing I felt let the series down slightly, was the direction. There seemed to be a lot of unnessesary crane shots and steadycam sequences that looked like stock footage (namely the dog walking scenes). Bar this minor distraction, the phenomenal acting, powerful story and hugely diverse and meaningful roster of characters makes After Life an instant must-watch
Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench (2009)
Lalalandsucks knows nothing about film criticism
Not a review, just wanted to saw that the user lalalandsucks writes the most hateful, poorly informed garbage I have ever had the misfortune of reading on this website.
Lalalandsucks shows that watching 3 YouTube videos about filmmaking and looking up the Wikipedia page of umbrellas of Cherbourg does not make you a competent film critic

Guy and Madeline was quite good and had some interesting moments , although I wouldn't be in a rush to watch it again.
Aquaman (2018)
Strong performances can't save confused superhero flick
Awful jokes, ridiculously drawn out run time and a script that was so uninteresting that I couldn't help but zone out during the last 30 or so minutes. The performance by Jason Momoa was a highlight along with an excellent final fight. At times the plot was complete nonsense (how did they get out of the desert, why does the little girl hand Mera the Pinocchio book, etc) the action scenes felt ripped off (the roof chase had been done in many, many better films) and at times I felt I was watching an animated movie due to the amount of CGI.
Underwhelming and very poor, can't believe I payed money to see this.
