Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Should have been a Disney+ series
Too campy and just too over the top trying to be funny.
Guardians of the Galaxy didn't even need to be in it, didn't contribute to the story.
Only one god death seen in a movie about a god killer.
Jane Foster story was made to bring some emotion but was lost in the goofiness.
It was so bad, trying to figure out if WW1984, Howard the Duck or Thor (L&T) is worst Superhero movie of all time (though I haven't seen Morbius).
The Batman (2022)
The Detective
Pattison embodied the early Batman, such as in Year One the animated movie and novel series. The hyper focus of his detective work, and dissing Catwoman as he almost uses her as a tool rather than a person (which she calls him on). Allowing Batman to not be like Superman but shows his flaws as he tries to understand the overall conspiracy and multiple times is put in positions that could take his life.
Great story line, intense, action thrown in, freaking awesome car chase that you must watch in IMAX.
All the actors were top notch - Riddler (Paul Dano) was way freaking creepy and you see how deranged he can be at the end, Colin Farrell kills it as the Penguin and adds some levity, Selina Kyle (Zoe Kravitz) as an adversary/partner and part time love interest.
The whole movie just clicked and you didn't FEEL like you were in a 3 hour movie. I'm seeing again Friday in 4XD, there is so much I missed because there is so much to take in.
ALSO NO END CREDIT SCENES! (this isn't Marvel) - more than half the theater was staying during the credits rolling then finding out there are no end credit scenes.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Make it through the first 4 because the last 3 episodes are bad a**
I was mildly entertained through the first 4 episodes and getting more of the back story on Boba Fett and would have rated this series a 6.
Then the next 3 episodes just took it to another level, adding back in some old characters and it just took off - those were 9/10s.
So for the entire series I give it an 8, just get thought those first four episodes and you won't get disappointed!
Yellowstone: Grass on the Streets and Weeds on the Rooftops (2022)
Started strong then faded each episode culminating with disappointing finale
Love me some Yellowstone and was excited for the direction of the series and was pumped after the first episode and then.... It just got worse and made less sense- wtf is this Kayce subplot and the name of the episode is based on the protestor plotline, which can go away and take Kayce's wife with it.
Was jumbled and the final episode was predictable and didn't really have me "wanting" season 5 to start. It's sad when the Jimmy storyline was the most interesting - and can Beth get off the whole Jamie destroyed my life - didn't she ask for his help and you are telling me she had no idea what they were doing?? Just seems too forced and overdramatic at this point.
Hopefully they turn things around.
Hawkeye (2021)
Love the character but this is just the worst Marvel series
Don't know what to say this is just bad. Was hoping for a better Marvel series and was just disappointed, they are getting worse as they continue.
Story line and characters are just "juvenile" it's like a Nickelodeon series and the best characters are the Track Suit Mafia - yeah Bro. Can't make this up just bad maybe it gets better?????
Black Widow (2021)
Take the family - kids loved it
Johansson.as Black Widow, seemed like she was made to play the role but her sister in the film, Pugh, was even better. Loved the banter between the two "sisters" and. David Harbour as their dad."The Red Guardian" provides some comic relief and depicted the clueless, trying to be cool dad.
Did start slower to build the story but the action was pretty solid in the second half and watching it in 4DX was amazing during the tearing down of the Red Room.
Took kids aged 9-17 and all of them really liked it giving their ratings from 7 to 10 to can we see it again - like NOW.
Take the family and have a good time and try the 4DX - you will not be able to watch an action movie again unless it's in 4DX.
Wanted (2008)
Wesley before Wick
For those that love the Matrix and John Wick movies this was 5 years before Wick and several of Wicks moves were similar in Wanted.
Top actors and Jolie, Liked the story and plot twist and wish they had done a follow up.
Don't try to apply logic just go along for the ride and you won't be disappointed.
Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (2019)
Move over Howard the Duck
To preface my rating: I used to watch Pokémon with my oldest daughter and I am usually a Ryan Reynolds fan but this was just .. bad, it was bad. The story, the acting, the special effects - I've seen better Netflix movies.
From the beginning and how slowly the story dragged on and the Pokémon CGI sucked, no awesome battles just bland.
Went with my kids and got up and checked out a few movies as I lingered outside not wanting to face any more of this movie. If they weren't there I would have been out after the first 15 minutes.
They should have just had Ryan Reynolds at the end look all nerdy with glasses and suddenly turn into Deadpool and start taking out Pokémon and I could increase my rating to at least a 6 star. This isn't even 99 cent redbox worthy.
