Star (2021)
A much relevant subject treated properly
A female centric story line much relevant in todays world. The script and direction and pretty good .
Little bit of flaws in the narrative but it doesn't take away anything from the movie
Joju and sheelu steal the limelight.
A good watch.
Bala (2019)
Bala is extremely beautiful
This 'BALD' is Beautiful
Self-Esteem, Self-Worth and Self-Love are some heavily motivating words which we often try to exercise in our lives daily. They are not just words but the foundation of our personalities.
We often see people struggling immensely to permeate these words in their lives to overcome the rejection which they have to face from the society. 'Bala' is a movie, which speaks openly on this topic.
Living in the suburbs of Kanpur, our protagonist 'Bala' played by Ayushmann Khurrana, is a family loving middle class boy who is facing the issue of Premature balding. Caught amidst societal pressure, he tries every possible way to find a permanent solution to the problem which has struck his life and brought his confidence crashing. How 'Bala' then copes up with his problem and tackles the relationships in his life forms the crux of the story.
Director Amar Kaushik has brilliantly narrated the story touching not just on baldness but every social ill that linger in our society. Starting from Body shaming, Dark skin issues, to addiction of social media among the youth, the movie touches subtlety on every aspect of our daily life. The best part of the movie is that it consists of characters which are quite relatable and simple to understand. 'Bala' is a joy ride through and through z not just puts a smile on our faces but also urges to stop and look around on how we as individuals are trying to mould ourselves forcefully into the set norms by our society; often forgetting the fact that Beauty is not just skin deep.
Indeed, this 'Bala' is not just BALD but Beautiful inside out.
Rating 4/5
Petromax (2019)
Petromax super comedy entertainer
Laugh riot all the way..
Watched fdfs at deira city center.
Went to see the movie because I had seen its telugu version anando brahma which I loved a lot.. But this Tamil version is even better .lots of laugh out loud moments in theatre. The title rightly said that 'its not your usual horror story' ..but there were few good moments of scariness too..but more scary moments could have been added..
Tammanah is cute as ur ghost. But maximum laugh are yogi babu, munishkant, kaali venkat. Vikram vedha Prém does a decent job. Well done rohin venktesh for giving second super hit after 'athe kangal'.
Finally its the directors movie and the story is the king.
