Fallout (2024– )

Really nailed the feel of the Fallout universe
21 April 2024
This TV series really did a great job with the whole aesthetic of the Fallout universe. The attention to detail is fantastic. It even starts out like a game with the main character looking for her father. The ghoul really stole the show, definitely my favourite character.

The story and events could easily come from one of the games, the happy-go-lucky 50s vibe interspersed with violence, from deadly serious to silly and back again. Just like the game. Bear in mind that most series take a few seasons to find their feet this is a great start and play the games if you haven't, you won't regret it.

Really looking forward to season two!

These people got famous for nothing, TV show is exactly as good as you'd expect
26 October 2020
Awful. Just awful. I'd rather slam my family jewels in a car door than watch another episode. I only watched it because I refused to believe it was so bad.

All social media star movies and TV series are complete disasters. What do you expect? These people are talentless narcissists who got famous for being famous, by sheer luck.

The dialog is exactly how you'd expect a fence post to talk. The story is so nonsensical it's like a child wrote it. The royalty free background music will make you shove two screwdrivers in your ears to reduce the pain.

Awful, just awful
2 December 2019
One of the rare occasions where we changed the channel. I won't waste time explaining it. It's almost like they gave the TNG actors a script from a different show. How they could put a clanger like this out in season 7 I don't know

Doom (2005)

Take it for what it is
4 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
They almost had the same excuse as the Mario movie. The original Doom was just going from A to B and killing everything in the way. Not a single word of dialogue and little explanation beyond muh demons. Hard to make a movie from that.

However Doom 3 came out before this movie and did a great job of padding out the original game with some story. Portals to hell, demons, horror and survival elements. If the movie followed this it could have been so much better. Instead we get some crap about genetics and good vs. evil.

Take the movie for what it is, its a bit of fun and has it's moments. The story is dog poop but its not as terrible as some of these reviews would have you believe. Worth a watch if youre a fan of the game.

At least there were no space nazis

Warning: Spoilers
Pretty forgettable episode. Not great but not awful either.

Star Trek has given us space nazis on more than one occasion, so people turning into salamanders from driving too fast isnt that far out.

Grade D-

Boring, drawn out road safety advert
13 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a fan of Black Mirror but every series has it's stinker episodes. I don't write many reviews but I'm here to warn people not to watch this. The worst part is that it seems like something interesting might happen, something awesome, something making it worth the build up. What is it? It's a road safety advert padded out. Don't use your mobile while driving. Awesome. What a revelation.

The main character can't accept responsibility for his actions and kidnaps someone, so the boss of the tech company can listen to his story. His story being that social media is too addictive. A dangerous precedent. I assume the next season will have murderers blaming the knife company for making such sharp knifes or some alcoholic blaming the beer company because he beat his wife up.

Give it a chance
28 February 2019
Full disclosure, I'm a trekkie. I've been watching star trek since I was a kid. One of my earliest memories is of watching TNG with my grand parents.

This might not be star trek as you remember it, it has been 15 years almost and thats if you count ENT. There are a lot of people going mental about what ultimately is minor.

Do you want a new show or do you want some new seasons of deep space nine? That may be a bad example, I would also love some new episodes of ds9...

It took me a few attempts to get into it, I also didnt like it at first. But after giving DIS a chance it's actually pretty good and let's not forget it's barely even into season two. Its almost a rule that the first 2 seasons of a star trek series will be pretty lackluster while they figure it out.

Its encouraging that they seem to be listening to the fans. Lets hope they bring in Jeffrey Combs or Marc Alaimo. Season 2 is already shaping up to be better than the first and the first wasnt too shabby.

I'm not on board with the klingons, they're orks now but whatever, we're finally getting some new trek and they do seem to be trying to get it right.

8/10, I gave an extra star because all the negative reviews arent fair

Cancelled too soon
15 October 2018
One of the better series. I likely particularly because it was close to home. You see it in the bare no frills ship. They were just getting started and it was cancelled.
