Anatomie d'une chute (2023)
One of best French movies I have ever watched in "clean" French
Before talking about the movie itself, as a francophone, this movie was like a fresh air to me. It s been years and years that I haven't been able to watch a dingle French movie where actors are native French actors, speaking perfect French, free from foreign slang.
Many may disagree with me, but France isn't known of perfect acting. But this movie and most of the actors (Except the prosecutor) proved me wrong
Also,
for the first time in a while, I felt I was watching a real French movie
As for the movie itself,
"Anatomy of a Fall" is an absolute triumph in storytelling, captivating audiences with its gripping narrative and stellar performances. From the moment the film begins, it pulls you into a world filled with intrigue, emotion, and unexpected twists. The direction is masterful, seamlessly weaving together multiple storylines to create a rich tapestry of human experience. Each character is expertly crafted, with depth and complexity that keeps you invested until the very end. The cinematography is breathtaking, showcasing stunning visuals that enhance the overall atmosphere of the film. "Anatomy of a Fall" is not just a movie, it's an experience that will linger in your mind long after the credits roll. Truly a must-see masterpiece that deserves all the praise it receives.
The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy (2023)
The best and most addictive travel documentary ever
I recently watched the "Reluctant Traveler" documentary and was blown away by the incredible storytelling and stunning visuals of Eugene Levy. The documentary follows a Eugene Levy who initially has no interest in traveling, but through his journey, he discovers a new perspective on the world.
The documentary is expertly crafted, with beautiful cinematography and a well-paced narrative that kept me engaged from start to finish. The interviews with locals and travelers alike provide a unique and insightful look into the different cultures and traditions of each location.
One of the things I appreciated most about "Reluctant Traveler" was its ability to inspire a sense of wanderlust and adventure. The character's transformation and newfound love for travel were truly inspiring, and I found myself wanting to pack my bags and explore the world myself.
Overall, "Reluctant Traveler" is a must-see documentary for anyone who loves to travel or is looking for inspiration to embark on their own journey. It's a beautiful and thought-provoking exploration of the transformative power of travel. Five stars, without a doubt.
The Staircase (2022)
Amazing show until French "actors" spoiled it
Quality show with highly skilled actors (Except when the French are called in), but with brutal crime scenes, shown over and over,
As good as I think this show is, the time management in some episodes is off. With some stretching over an hour-long, there's plenty that could be added and touched on, but it's often wasted on filler and unimportant plot points (Mainly the French ones) that don't add much in the long run.
I am fluent in French and listening to these very bad French actors, trying to act, getting lead roles in the series is a shame.
Another Life (2019)
Interesting story terrible acting
Where shall I start from...? While the story is interesting, I was really disappointed to see how terrible the acting is. During the series, each time they would wake up a new crew member, I would expect a better acting.. Unfortunately the whole cast is boring... Another thing I noticed is the selection of the actresses.... while most of the actors have a viril look and attitude, so the actresses. For some unknown reasons, all the actresses in the spaceship are clearly gay (Which is ok), but I am not sure what is the point of having male and female cast, when the latter look and act exactly like their male counterpart.
The Ice Road (2021)
Extremely bad acting
Terrible story terrible acting. I simply cannot believe I wasted my time watching such a movie. It felt like those Mexican series. Don't waste your time.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
Addictive story but terrible acting
The storyline is simply well written and it makes you want to finish it until the end. However, the actors were so so so bad. First time, I watch a TV series where the acting quality on the first 5 episodes is completely different from the remaining ones. Past the 5th episode, it s getting worse
If you don't mind the quality of the acting, it s worth watching
Making a Murderer (2015)
So real but so heartbreaking
I can't find the words to express how I felt from the first time I started watching "Making a Murderer". What If I tell you that I started yesterday evening, watched 5 Episodes , and finished all today?:)
These investigative documentaries are transforming everything, literally reopening closed cases, making a real difference in people's lives
"Making a Murderer" features the sort of people who are rarely seen on television in any real depth, the sort of people too parodied or dismissed in reality series, glossed over in the cultural conversation until they are evoked, en masse, during election years as "real Americans."
I hope to see more of Investigative documentaries, as they are for me way better than any TV drama
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)
The worse movie ever. Bollywood movie might be more fun to watch
I cannot find the words to describe this so called movie. I went to watch it with my wife, expecting to have a good laugh and enjoy the movie. This is by far the worse and most ridiculous movie ever. I could easily compare the jokes to jokes seen in Bollywood movie. I have no idea where the 7.7 came from!!! Neither the spiritual insights nor the jokes always hit the mark, and sometimes one cancels out the other, giving the film a curiously neutral, blank quality I guess it s all because Ben Stiller is not only an actor in this movie but also the movie Director. I for sure not recommend it to anyone. It was a big disappointment, especially when we are all used to the funny movies of Ben stiller
