It's a Sin (2021)
Past events that serve as a mirror to the present
It's a Sin is one of those TV shows that at first seems like it's fun and dandy, but then it quickly unveils a deeper, ominous meaning hiding in the background. It first appealed to me because of obvious reasons: the catchy title and the theme of young gay love, which I as a young gay have also experienced. What I haven't experienced though, is the looming threat of a scary and unknown, deadly virus, which seemingly preys on the very populace I'm proudly a part of. The series manages to perfectly encapsulate the passions, feelings, fears and emotions of not just the main characters, but of everyone else in the series. It describes the AIDS epidemid as vividly as if I had been actually living in the 80s! The racism, the homophobia, the overconsuming patriarchy, the hate in general is so well done, everything and every character has such a soul, such a personality! I got so mesmerised in the whole experience that by the end of the last episode I could not stop crying - I was picturing me and my boyfriend in the same situations as Ritchie and Ash were. And even when the final credits were nearing the end, my tears would not stop falling. This series brought up such an emotional response in me that I've never experienced from a series before! The fact that I felt the pain of Ritchie's friends and family, how my view of his father completely changed after he found out, it's absolutely astonishing.
We as humanity MUST remember what it was like, how gay people were treated like dirty animals, how parents rather forgot about their son completely, rather than face the fact that he was gay, we must remember and never forget the pain we endured, the losses, the suffering that somehow just did not seem to end, because all of this pain, all of this sadness contributed to who we are today, when AIDS is no longer so heavily stigmatized and we might just have the cure waiting round the corner. We must use this series and others in the genre as examples of what not to do! We must use the proverbial mirror of the AIDS epidemic and hold the society as a whole up to it. Only then will we progress, and only then will the hate dissappear, hopefully for good.
Young Royals (2021)
Perfect.
This show was so incredibly relatable that I got nostalgic while watching it. It just reminded me soooo much of when I started coming out. It's so real and so emotional and it so beautifully portrays their love. 10/10!!
Friends: The Reunion (2021)
Undescribable...
This reunion was... just amazing. I have watched friends like almost 6 times and to see them all come together after all these years... it's just amazing. I haven't cried like that in a long time. Absolutely perfect!
Joker (2019)
Absolutely fantastic!
When you're at the beginning of the movie, you think that you've got it all figured out: Arthur's mental illness, Sophie and even his mom, but when you progress through it you start seeing things the other way; you start doubting everything and every theory you had about his life and his motives, was everything you saw really happening or was it just a product of Joker's crazy imagination, was he even there or was he in the Arkham Asylum imagining it all. That's the beauty of this movie - it makes you wonder. That's why I think that Joaquin Phoenix deserves an Oscar and that's why I rated it 10 out of 10. I could go on and on about how perfect and fitting was the music and choreography but let's just leave it at that. If you didn't already, go watch it and have your mind blown!
The Last Summer (2019)
Relatable
That scene on the subway when Kj and Maia were texting was so relatable I couldn't stop smiling! And the rest was just great!
Supergirl (2015)
Wow, just wow!
I am speechless. This was the best and by that I mean THE BEST superhero show besides Flash! It was just so exciting and thrilling and deep and Melissa's acting is just wonderful! It shows a great respect in lesbianism which I approve and encourage. Just the whole deal with them dealing with alliens - at first hating them then trying to become friends with them it was just so inspiring and it was very similar to racism and how we are dealing with it. I just loved how Supergirl was open to everyone and how she never killed, I think it shows great nobility and understanding. Do not listen to the haters, read the positive comments. I definitely recomend it!
The Flash: Duet (2017)
Absolutely brilliant!
At the beginning of the episode I was stunned by Kara's (Melissa's) singing of Moon River. She was just so gorgeous and I kind of got the feeling that she would really well fit into the 50's era, I don't know why. It was just such a nice break from all the killing and Savitar and Barry and Iris almost breaking up, it was truly enjoyable.
Mary Poppins Returns (2018)
Absolutely fantastic!
This movie is so ful of childish laughter and love it just makes you feel like an eight year old kid again! I watched it at home and when the movie ended I was so fascinated with both the acting and the choreography! It truly is a "must see" for all that have forgotten how wonderful it is to be a kid!
Friends (1994)
The Best TV Show Ever!
I first heard of Friends about three years ago from my parents and then when I subscribed to Netflix I got an opportunity to watch the show and it blew me away! I have watched them over and over, episode after episode, season after season for over three times now and I plan on watching it the forth time. I guarantee that you will enjoy this as much as I did and I highly recommend it. Have fun!
