American Soldiers (2005)
AWFUL
What clown thought filming in downtown Hamilton Ontario would pass for Iraq? The building wsre all made of quality brick, not mud. I especially liked the one way signs everywhere as if Iraq has a DOT.
The trucks were hit multiple times with RPG's with no apparent damage like the "soldiers" who were seemingly invincible.
The acting was over the top - meaning terrible. That's usually the result of a poor director, an awful script, or talentless actors. This film apparently has all three. And it was also apparent no military expert was on hand.
I should have turned the channel after 10 minutes but kept watching another 10 just to see how much worse it would get.
Pillars of the Sky (1956)
Absolutely awful.
My title says it all. It's painful to watch. A terrible script leads an awful story. The acting is poor but l attribute that to a poor script and a complete lack of direction. The score is typical with the usual "Indian" music. After watching a movie like Dances With Wolves where they use actual natives as real people it's impossible to watch these old 50's movies.
The Irishman (2019)
Are you kidding?
Good story. A nice snapshot of history.
But they made a big deal about how fantastic DiNero transitioned from 30 to 40 to 60 to 70 years old. All l saw was a 76 year old, overweight DeNero with terrible makeup throughout the entire film. It wasn't only laughable it was ridiculous. The ONLY time he looked normal or believable was when he was playing a 76 year old. It really ruined it for me and some friends. Why didn't they just go with younger look-a-likes as in The Godfather.
Hollywood believing their own hype.
