FBI: International: Remove the Compromise (2024)
Morally Incompetent
This was a frustrating episode to watch. The main plot of this episode is the CIA wants label the Cartels as terrorists organizations and kill not capture them. There is a cartel in Budapest that they want to use as a trial run for this new policy. The Fly Team sees this amomg other things as morally wrong, jumping on a soap box and preaching about how it's fascist. And towards the end of the episode they're morals cause them to make some seriously dumb decisions. Which results in one of the good guys dying and the Cartel members being arrested. It's basically Sicario but in reverse. Whether or not you agree or not with the CIA and their new policy, seeing the Forrester and the other FBI agents throw out basic logic "to do the right thing". Which ends up doing more harm then good is as previously said incredibly frustrating.
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix (2023)
Swing and a Miss
I was sure what to expect going into this show. It looked interesting from the trailers. And got off to a good start with episode 1. Great animation, action and interesting character. However from episode 2 onwards it's downhill. Things become to ridiculous to take seriously. And despite how crazy and colorful the show is it still manages to be boring and bleak with unnecessarily cruel moment that really waste the story and characters. I tried but couldn't finish the show, each episode after 2 made me less and less invested given how little things matter. Until I dropped it during 6. Sadly don't recommend this mess.
How to Blow Up a Pipeline (2022)
Glorifying Environmental Terrorism
Plane and simple this film tries to portray an act of terrorism as heroic. And tries to portray the one's doing it as either victims or tragic heroes. But they are not. All of them are bad people. Young and entitled. They provoke, mock and look down on anyone who doesn't share their view point. Oh and let's not forget they create homemade explosives and blow up a federal oil pipeline causing far for environmental damage and causing people to lose jobs. Innocent workers nearly got in the explosion. They also repeatedly slash tires, sabotage boats, which again is portrayed as heroic. They are not heroes. This is a film about young vandals becoming terrorists and being portrayed as good guys.
God's Country (2022)
A Pointless Film
Definitely do not recommend this movie. Tandi Newtonplays Sandra who is a big "karen" (no really she is) they try to make symphatic but fail. As the synopsis says the premise of the film is Sandra is upset because two men park their truck close to her house when they go hunting. The men are brothers, the older one is civil and polite while the younger one is clearly not right upstairs and basically the main antagonist of the film. After Sandra confronts the two men the first time it becomes a story of escalations. With Sandra be equally as guilty of being unreasonable if not more so than the brothers. Sandra first writes them a strongly worded letter which the older brother ignores and the younger brother leaves a dead bird on it. Sandra then tows their truck away damaging it. The younger brother responds with shooting arrows at her house. She calls the cops and stalks both brothers. And so on. It ends with Sandra's house burning down and her dog dying. After which she snaps, grabs a shotgun a straight up murders the two brothers. The film ends on a very bleak and pointless note. Annoyingly it does try to portray Sandra as some sort of victim. But she isn't. The cops take her seriously and warn the brothers to stay away. The older brother complies with Sandra's wishes and parks further away to avoid her property. But that is not good enough for her. Really the older brother Gus is the only victim in this movie. Aside from trying to make peace with Sandra and keep his brother in check he is also taking care of his old cripple mother. But at the end of the film he's dead. Sandra has lost everything. And it's just pointless.
S.W.A.T.: Old School Cool (2022)
A better episode only dragged down by one thing
Old School Was more enjoyable then some previous episodes. With the concept of swat not having their technology to help them and having to use old methods to stop the criminals and save undercover cops lives. Add the introduction of a new character played by none other then Wil Wheaton and the episode certainly has parts worth watching.
Only issue is that like previous episodes this can't help but hammer in a PC message. One that it's done before, which is "women have it so hard in the LAPD". The episodes stops the main story several times to once again get on a soap box and preach about how terrible and hard it is to be a woman in the lapd. How hard it hits Street with this message it just laughable.
S.W.A.T.: Safe House (2021)
A better episode than previous one's but...
Safe House was definitely a improvement over the last several episodes. With good action and a overall good story. My only issue is that once again they couldn't keep politics out of it. This time it's Chris getting up on the soap box. I found her argument with Deacon to be especially bad. Not just because of what she was saying but how she was saying it. It was a borderline verbal attack, no respect shown for her superior officer with her all but saying Deacon has white privilege. To cap it off he did nothing to warrant it but the show wants you to feel he did. They are effectively using Deacon as a strawman who's political view is always wrong and needs to be told why.
S.W.A.T.: Crisis Actor (2021)
An episode you can definitely skip.
This episode was incredibly boring and wasted so much potential.
There are two main things in the episode.
One is the heavy message of guess what, being guns are bad. Pro guns are bad, the second amendment is bad. And of course the one character who speaks positively of guns gets shot.
Second is Sanchez still trying to get Hondo to quit. Except after all the build up Sanchez has gotten to be a major antagonist to Hondo he suddenly packs it in at the end of the episode when Deacon and Luca threaten to expose a lie he told. That's it, he's gone just like that. Talk about a wasted character. Thought he'd stick around for the entire season but guess the writers didn't know what else to do with him.
Oh and guess I should mention this episode yet again couldn't help but bring up how Hondo did the right thing and what's happening to him now is unfair. It's getting really annoying getting hit over the head with "Hondo did the right thing" ever single episode.
Nancy Drew: The Celestial Visitor (2021)
What is happening to this show?
Seriously WTF? Aside from the completely ridiculous techno stiff Tom brings in what is with all the cliche political preaching all of a sudden? When I first started watching this I loved it for it's dark compelling supernatural but grounded mysteries and the strong smart (non soapbox sadie) girl that solved them. I was also glad it wasn't another show that was forcing wokeness down my throat. But now that's change. Tom Swift and all his cheap unrealistic sci-fi stuff is completely out of place in this show. Along with the heavy PC stuff they are throwing in, stuff like poor old Nick having to go to a white barber who apparently doesn't know how to give him a...correct black hair cut? And of course they bring in the evil patriarchy and a homophobic dad because of course...
Can this show go back to what made it good please?
Nancy Drew: The Siege of the Unseen Specter (2021)
This show has plenty of great episodes and this is not one of them
This episode started out as a very interesting "who done it" premise with Nancy and other people trapped in the police station by a mysterious person. And one or more of the other people locked in with Nancy murdered someone years ago. Now it's up to Nancy to figure out who is the guilty party with them in the room with her.
However soon what could have been a good murder mystery story soon turns heavily political. As it's revealed that the person who died was of course a black woman. Nick naturally doesn't miss a opportunity to jump up on a soapbox and preach about it.
And in the end guess what it's revealed that it was two police officer who killed her due to racism. One of the other suspects even shouts, IT WAS THE POLICE IT WAS THE POLICE. And finally Detective Tamura is being interviewed by a reporter and gives the tired old "racism will not be tolerate and we have alot of work to do" speech which completely ignores the fact that in the previous season there was a black female detective and a native American as the chief. But no now this police department is super racist and needs to do better.
Really the only reason to watch this episode is to see what George, Ace and Bess are doing with George's dead great aunt who possess Ace.
This show should stick to doing what it's good at, solving supernatural mysteries and murder cases that aren't politically agenda driven.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Sadly disappointing
I was very much looking forward to this movie after seeing the trailer...which is the first issue I have with this movie. The trailer is very misleading. Going into this movie I was expecting something like 2009 Zombieland. Something with good action, comedy, horror, gore and fun characters. This film is not like that. It's way to serious, bleak, unfunny with mostly cliche wooden and boring characters. There were two or three good action scenes and a few characters I liked but they aren't enough for me to recommend this movie. The only semi interesting part of this was the zombies, can't say to much because of spoilers. But I'll say this, think the film would have been better if it was entirely from the Z's perspective.
S.W.A.T.: Local Heroes (2021)
Wish this show would do ONE thing differently
So episode 15 follows what was set up in the previous episode. About how Lee and his two friends are racists cops. Spoilers ahead... Deacon and Hando spend the most of the episode disagreeing over how to handle it. Hondo gives several lectures about racism and how hard black people have it, again. Until then end when Deacon "finally sees reasons" and secretly records Lee and the others saying racist things at their barbecue. Predictably Lee and his friends get suspended and are now under investigation. Also Deacon now has lost considerable respect from many of his fellow officers for doing this. All of this I sadly expected. I say sadly because as I mentioned above, wish this show would do ONE thing differently. Which is rehabilitate the racist. How many shows are out there where a bigoted character changes his view and gets redeemed? Can't think of any. Instead they either get killed, fired or sent to prison. I would love to have seen Lee get partnered with Hondo and he changes Lee's world view. I mean Hondo made so many speeches about making the lapd better about changing things. Why not try and change a racist cop instead of turning him into a villian, give him redemption. But no this show follows the same basic pattern. Doesn't do anything new.
