The Vicar of Dibley (1994)
No, no, no, no, umm YES
Brilliant comedy that has stood the test of time. I only wish there were more e.
Into the Night (2020)
Interesting concept, but...
I guess I know too much about aviation and flying. I think the premise of this show is interesting, but there are so many errors it is ridiculous. Sure I get that it is fiction, but it's simply so far out unfactual that I can't recommend anyone to watch it. After 3 episodes, I'm done.
Phantom of the Paradise (1974)
A forgotten gem
I stumbled across this movie during the corona virus lockdown. As a teenager, my friends and I drove 250 miles round trip to see this when released. I loved it then. Now 45 years later, seeing it again brought back so many memories. The visuals, the music and story are amazing.
Brokeback Mountain (2005)
Still hard to watch
I saw this film twice when at the theaters, and once when it came out on DVD. Having lost a partner since then, I couldn't find myself to watch it again for 14 years. It still is a punch in the gut. Time to make my computer wallpaper the shot of Ennis' shirt hanging on the door again.
Black Mirror (2011)
It Could have been a 10, but...
...season five was bad (episode 1), mildly acceptable (episode 2) and are you kidding me? (episode 3). Miley Cyrus? This series started out as an inventive, original and disturbing show. When it became "Americanized", it went downhill fast. Please, either return to the original premise, or don't put out more trash.
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
An Amazing Biopic
I became a fan of Queen in my late teens. Most of my friends didn't "get" them. So when I found out they were making this film I was both excited and apprehensive. I didn't want to be disappointed by a mediocre movie about one of my favorite bands. I was astonished.
Having watched Rami Malek in Mr. Robot, I thought he was an interesting actor. When I found out he was cast as Freddie Mercury, my thought was, is he ready for such a leap from TV to this?
Five minutes into the movie, I was sold. Seeing him on various talk shows about he prepared for this, I knew it was going to be something special. As soon as I got home I pulled up the Live Aid concert. Malek captured Freddie's stage performance 100%.
Even if you are just vaguely familiar with Queen, see this movie. You will become a fan.
If Malek isn't nominated as best actor at the Oscars next year, it will be a crime. He deserves that statue..
