The Thaw (2009)
Yikes!
Let's start with what's good about this film. Right.
Now on to the bad. You could write a thesis or have a film class write one on how not to create poor characters/dialog/development by watching this film. Especially with how poorly the characters of Evelyn and Federico are written and some of the awful decisions they make throughout the movie.
Some films feel like they don't want you to take it to seriously and just sit back an enjoy. This one seemed to want the viewers to at least take it somewhat seriously and that is the problem at least for me. Poor script writing. Decent ideas but written very poorly.
Seriously though it had some good ideas, the bugs look decent, and Val Kilmer is in it.
Willow: Beyond the Shattered Sea (2023)
All of a sudden...
Okay, now the kids decided to learn how to act. Maybe its because the scripts have been rather decent the last two episodes or whatever but this episode was actually pretty good. I still didn't care for some of the modern sounding dialogue or jokes. With that said the dialogue still was miles ahead of the first couple episodes. The scenery and direction of this episode was also really good.
Unfortunately, probably a bit to late. I've always been a fan of Warwick and the original Willow film and wouldn't mind seeing it continue in some form but I sincerely doubt that a second season will get the go ahead.
The Elf (2016)
Who edited this mess?
I don't normally write reviews especially negative ones but this film was just frustrating to watch. Solely on how poorly the sound editing/mixing was done. The film editor, believed it was Khu, needs a better set of headphones.
I watched it on Amazon so maybe they received a poor version of the movie but I highly doubt it. I even try adjusting my audio settings but that didn't change anything.
The sound mixing isn't the film only issue. There is the poor pacing, bad acting, and a lazy script. I only gave it a 2/10 due to the fact that some of the cinematography was decent.
