Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
It's just not enjoyable. Space Soap Opera.
I wish this show was better. Figured it had to be as good as Mandalorian with Ewan starring, but it's just not fun or interesting.
With such a high concept (Obi v Vader), they could've done a lot better. This is a space soap opera.
The Batman (2022)
Burn it with fire before it lays eggs.
Judas Priest, where do you start?
It's like someone gave Matt Reeves the keys to a $300M car and he went right out and crashed it.
Listen, you can't out-Nolan Nolan. Why try?
Seems that Reeves can only do remakes.
Reeves took a big budget action film and turned it into some wanna-be film-school-art-house picture with obscure angles, bad lighting, major pacing problems, and--c'mon--if you're gonna spring to have Collin Ferrel in the movie, let him be recognizable.
This movie is horrible and pretentious--a movie that should've been 90 minutes and stretched to 180--the only soundtrack is 150 minutes of "Ave Maria." Oh, and the same Nirvana song twice.
And people... you give 10 star ratings to 10 star movies like "Godfather" and "Casa Blanca," not comic book movies. Whomever is rating this above a 6 is a plant--fake reviewers.
It's a sh** movie and I'm actually mad I spent the time and money to watch it.
Please don't let Reeves crash any more cars. Ans sure as he** don't let him do a sequel.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
Run. Away. Do. Not. Watch.
Satire? Dark humor?
Nah. Just plain bad. Seriously bad on any measuring stick.
This is an indictment to anyone who worked on, wrote, acted, or had anything to do with this production.
DO NOT WATCH THIS SHOW.
The Power of the Dog (2021)
Beautiful movie, frame by frame. Wonderful Gothic Western.
Each shot is like a poem to cinematography.
Yes, it's dark and sometimes off-putting, but altogether lovely.
There Will Be Blood meets Unforgiven.
Gothic Western with fantastic acting, superb lighting, and tilted music.
Go watch it.
Nine Perfect Strangers (2021)
Pretty okay, but that last episode? Booooo
The last episode ruined the show.
Lazy deus ex machina.
F9 (2021)
Even your imagination will give up.
I gave this 3/10 because of the production value.
Other than that, this movie simply asks to much of the audience. It's one thing to go into a movie with suspended disbelief, but it's quite another for this filmmaker to ask us to follow the saga along this far, to this degree of absurdity.
If I wanted the absurd, I'll read Camus.
If I want to watch a cartoon, I'll turn one on.
If I want to watch a movie that challenges my mind, I'll watch "2001" or "No Country for Old Men."
But, even having seen other Fast movies, I thought I knew what I was in for.
I was wrong.
This movie simply asks too much of the audience in terms of checking reality at the door. It goes beyond that.
I'm offended at the audacity of this filmmaker and offended that it was this ridiculous.
Don't even wait to rent it. It's just bad.
The Night House (2020)
A couple scares, but that ending...?
No spoilers.
I just don't understand this pointless movie. If/when you watch it, you'll ask yourself, "is there anything more?"
The answer is no. It's a well acted, decent looking movie that, in the end, adds up to nothing.
There are *real* horror movies out there that you should watch instead of this. What a let-down.
The Green Knight (2021)
Beautiful, surreal, well shot. But...
It's a good movie, great cast, and beautiful cinematography. Just lovely.
The biggest problem with the movie is its unfaithfulness to the original text. The ending of the poem is fitting, just, and ties up the challenging themes within the story.
The movie butchered the story during the 3rd act, however.
Had the movie been faithful to the original text, it would've been a 9-star film.
That said, all of the actors were great, it looked fantastic, and challenged the viewer with complex themes.
And if anyone complains about Dev Patel as the lead, they should go back to watching sanitized Disney movies. Dev was nothing short of brilliant.
Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
Excellent. Futuristic Cinema Noir. Gosling is perfect.
If anyone rates this less that 8 stars, they either didn't understand it or they don't like movies.
Denis V can do no wrong.
The movie is dark, compelling, has many nods to the original, and the actors are fantastic. The music and sound effects are brilliant and every shot is well thought out-gorgeous even in a dystopian future.
One part Blade Runner (OG), one part China Town, and one part sci-fi. Cells interlinked within cells interlinked into one stem.
Gosling is perfect and Leto is enigmatic.
Watch it, then watch it again. I dare you.
Wrath of Man (2021)
Wrath of Bland
Generic characters, silly dialogue, and a predictable ending. If you like action, you might like it. If you're interested in good storyline and character development, skip this one.
Honestly, we've seen Statham do all of this before-and better.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Army of the Bored.
I'm a fan of slow movies that build characters and storylines. This movie does both, but not very well. The characters aren't interesting, their backstories are generic, and frankly, you don't really care if they live or die.
The first 20 minutes should've been edited to 5. The remains 2:10 should've been cut to 90 minutes.
There is nothing in this movie that adds to the zombie narrative in any meaningful way. Even the "twist" ending left me laughing as it was predictable and milquetoast.
Save your money, wait until it's on Netflix, but for the love of movies, don't expect anything from it-set your expectations low and maybe you'll have a little fun.
Fargo (2014)
Avoid Season 4. Yeah, I'm one of those guys
Like others here, I recommend you skip season 4.
Season 1 was excellent.
Season 2 was good.
Season 3 was okay.
Season 4 took a dump in its own bed and we had to watch it.
Hereditary (2018)
Chilling.
This movie is very, very well done and it is disturbing. I guess this leads to catharsis, dunno.
But Alex Wolff? Good grief he is so dang good in this movie. The whole cast, really, but he really turns it on.
Truly, I do not really want to watch this movie again--once was enough--but at the same time, it was brilliant.
Ad Astra (2019)
Apocalypse Now... In Space
Ever wondered what Joseph Conrad's 1902 novella "Heart of Darkness" (later made into a movie by Coppola) would look like in space?
Well, here you go.
I consider this film to be a modern remake of "Apocalypse Now," complete with Pitt's voiceover-which sounds remarkably like Sheen's from 1979.
Send Marlowe up river to find the Colonel.
That's the story.
Army boat attacked by Vietnamese?
Yep. Moon buggy chase.
Attacked by a tiger in the jungle?
Yep. You'll see.
Sheen (Marlowe) coming out if the water to find Kurtz?
Yeah. Pitt does that, too.
Pretty cool update/remake.
Too bad "they" bill this as an original script.
But it looks good.
Not "Interstellar" good or "2001" good.
But good.
Don't overthink it like some losers I know (ahem). Just go enjoy it.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)
So, about that 4th act...
F&F means great cars and punchy humor. This movie is no exception.
But that 4th act... man, was it out of place.
It was fun, sure, but entirely unnecessary.
PS, the 3 leads? Yeah, I'd make-out with any of them. Or all of them.
The Society (2019)
I made it nearly 7 minutes! Pretty good, right?
So, not quite 7 minutes into the show, a few fellas see some graffiti on the school wall. One of them comments that it's phoneticized Hebrew and originates in the bible--then proceeds to translate it.
Listen, I've seen some unbelievable things in movies before--hell, I've seen all the Fast & Furious movies--but this short scene is the most unbelievable clip I've seen in a show.
House of Cards (2013)
The biggest con of all: Season 6
Of all the posturing, conning, swindling, and deceit in House of Cards, the biggest lie came in the form of Season 6.
Whomever gave the green light on this was either conned or in on the con. Boy, do I feel duped.
Just how many characters can break the 4th wall, anyway?
A little deus ex machines if you ask me.
Which you're not.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)
Raiders of the Jurassic Ark
This movie is a remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark with dinosaurs.
Prove me wrong, losers.
Don't bother with this one. It's bad to the bone.
