Alien Hunter (2003)
Very entertaining for a lower budget sci-fi film
********Spoilers*********
I was very surprised by this film. First of all this is not a large budget independence day film. However this film would graduate top of its class in the lower budget sci-fi genre. The acting is good, James Spacer one of my favorite actros, plays a good roll. The support cast is also on par for this type of film. The special effects though not fantastic are still well done, and function well for this film. The story draws on several different aspects of the first encounter alien genre.
The film starts out in the past with a ham radio operator, near roswell new mexico, receiving a signal and going to investgate. He disappears in a bright light and the story jumps to the present. A large mass is found in the ice in the Antarctic that is sending out the same signal from earlier. James Spacer, playing a Professor in linguistics and communication, is brought in to analyze the signal. He then goes to the Antarctic to see the object. I want spoil the rest of the film for you, but it is safe to say they get snowed in, things happen good and bad. The ending was also something I didn't see coming.
The title of the film is very misleading, don't think this is a film about the Antarctic team hunting down the big bad alien here to destroy the planet. I would recommend this film to anyone how likes sci-fi films. It was a very pleasant surprise.
Demon House (2019)
Sorry but I must call BS
It's funny but I just created this account today to actually call BS when I see. I have used imdb for years (without an account) getting great real life reviews from good movie critics. But I'm sorry, when 95% of the 10/10 reviews are from people (maybe like me, but I highly doubt it) who have only been on imdb for just a couple of weeks and have only reviewed this one movie. Not to mention that all the reviews are just three or four lines. Does that not feel like maybe the same person with multiple accounts? Come on guys. This movie is nowhere near a 10/10 if the scale only goes to 10, then 10 should be academy award films. Yes, no, maybe? Please all I ask is critics be honest and promoters do it somewhere else.
This movie is ok if you are into off scene action, reenactments, and general horror type films. You are not however going to find any hard evidence one way or another. If you are looking for that, save yourself some time and look somewhere else. The movie does have its on style of character but it really does fill like a 95 minute TV episode. I hope this may help anyone really looking for an honest opinion.
