Kalkofes Mattscheibe (1994–2021)
Parody - but unique
7 January 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Ah, Kalkofes Mattscheibe. Well, what can I say. Quite good, but nothing for "family entertainment". Sometimes I think that the actual programs (without the Parody) looks even more stupid, when you actually see how stupid some programs actually are, that you've never watched, but get to know by this. And then the Costumes - either as a young boy singing "Being a Girl is cool" or as an Old Man with "Rotting Mouth Edges" from the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) singing "Yes, we have no Brain no more" looking exactly like the hideous Guy in the Actual TV Program, or as the MTV-Presenter who didn't know the name of Music Instruments, "that, that push-thing Tatata" - meaning a trombone. Well, if you're the kind of Person that'll stand up at 11.2o pm to watch a TV Program - have a look.

What is this?
6 January 2006
Compared to the UK TV series, this is like trying to film Mrs Doubtfire again, but with Pierce Brosnan in the Role of Mrs Doubtfire - It doesn't work! Alec Baldwin and Peter Fonda are stealing the show, and the voices for the Engines are absolutely hideous. And this whole plot thing with that Lady-Engine and "the Engine that would destroy all other Engines"! And then that "Island-of-Sodor-Coal"! I've heard of Henry needing special Welsh Coal (in the TV Series) but "Island-of-Sodor-Coal! Puuh! And then Gordon, the "Big Engine" supposed to being afraid of Diesel 10, etc.! And why are we never told what Diesel 10 already has done, I mean, Gordon says "The Diesel tens back" and Shakes. (And anyway, what happened to the Small Black Diesel by Rev W Awdry himself?) If the old Reverend W. Awdry would have heard this Kind of plot with HIS Engines, he would have turned around in his Grave!

I've only given this film a "2" because there are (suprisingly) actually some Scenes without any Baldwins or Fondas or Wilsons making it stupid! If anyone actually wants to watch it, I suggest that you rent it somewhere an give it back as quickly as possible!

Löwenzahn (1981– )
Switch off afterwards!
6 January 2006
Just at the time when Peter Lustig tells us, he's going to stop, it's getting a "cult" in Germany! I think this is the ONLY program on German television, that actually tells the Kids to switch off afterwards. The way German TV is coming along these days, the only programs that should be running should be ones like Löwenzahn (telling you to switch off afterwards) and Kalkofes Mattscheibe (telling you how stupid it actually is). Löwenzahn is running much too rarely. The last time an episode was actually coming EVERY DAY was Summer 2003, everyday 19.25 on Kinderkanal, but these days it runs once a week, Sunday morning on ZDF.
