Rob Delaney: Jackie (2020)
Laughed so hard I felt sick...and that's a good thing
I made myself late for work because I started watching this with my wife in the morning after the kids had gone to school. But I couldn't stop. I was laughing so hard I made myself sick, but in that good cathartic way. Because Rob is incredible at taking the messed up show that is life and turning it into something gut-wrenchingly funny. Amazing comic monologue about getting old, kids, home birth! (been there), pets, healthcare, trains...perverts in shrubbery! Damn I love this man.
The World According to Jeff Goldblum (2019)
I forgot my mantra...
Remember that Jeff Goldblum line from Annie Hall? One of my favorite one-off movie lines in history. Anyway, it's the perfect symbol for the nutty-but-lovable Mr. Goldblum. And one of the few shows out there you can watch with your whole family. I hope that Disney + gives this another season. One of the highlights of the series is watching Jeff show up at Jeff Goldblum Day in his hometown of Pittsburgh and surprise a bunch of people getting Jeff Goldblum tattoos at a tattoo parlor. I love this man.
The Witcher (2019)
Bad reviews? Just watch it
I'm sick of reading scathing reviews of a something that turns out to be pretty damn entertaining (I'm talking about you Metacritic). The Witcher is not GoT. OK. I get it. Nothing probably ever will be. But The Witcher is the show that every D&D nerd from the 80s has been waiting for their entire adult lives. I binge watched it over the Christmas vacation and had a blast. Here's the deal...you've got Netflix, right? So it's basically a free show that just appears on your TV or computer. Watch the show and make your own conclusions. Also, if you're a fan of the video game, I think they pretty much nailed the essence of The Witcher. But this series also has cool backstory stuff from the books. The only thing that is missing? Some people at an inn playing Gwent! Looking forward to Season 2.
