Bolt (2008)
Makes a change to see a kids film that was good.
Being a mom means you have to take the kids to the cinema. Over the past couple of years I have seen some awful films, Monster House and Cars are two that come to mind.
Bolt, to be honest I wasn't looking forward to seeing it, but I am glad I did, I loved it, it wasn't overly preachy or sentimental. It was well paced and didn't try to be something it wasn't. There were no innuendo jokes that were there for the parents and the thing I did notice was that the parents were laughing a long with the children.
Some wonderful lines, good animal characterisation, and a kick-ass hamster. What more could you ask for.
Tropic Thunder (2008)
I'm beginning to think I watched a different movie
OK so I've read a few reviews and I can only surmise that I was watching a different film to many of the reviewers on here.
I fell asleep, it was that dull. Stiller should really take an ego check and take some pointers from his character (talk about irony). Black was just being Black (but on an off day). Downey Jr needs to get back into the Iron suit, he was just irritating. On the other hand I found Cruise amusing and definitely able to take the rise out of himself.
To be fair though I think the idea was a good one, but it was executed badly. It wasn't satire, it was just Stiller trying to get his career up and running again, I've never been a big fan, and nothing has changed.
Bonekickers (2008)
It had it's moments.
It had it's moments and I think they were all in the trailer. Hubby fell asleep through it and normally I would save it on Sky+ for him.
I didn't.
The cgi was dire, the acting was dire (even the rather yummy Adrian Lester couldn't save it) - oh and what was with the re-dubbing of Paul Nicholls??? I will give it a second chance next week but I am not holding my breath!!!
A lot of things I love are a little far fetched but usually have at least one toe in the waters of believability. This fell flat, the characters were all over the top, the lines in places were cringe worthy to say the least, and the storyline, possibly not the best choice for the first episode.
