It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
Jimmy Stewart, self doubt, an angel and new perspective
This was a slightly ignored movie when it was made but due to a copyright lapse it has become a Christmas classic. And I must watch it every year on broadcast tv on Christmas Eve, with a mug of hot chocolate. All acting performances are on point, and every time I watch this I feel so good about myself and everyone I love. It's a good hour and a half of your life, try it!
Back to the Future Part III (1990)
Fun, but not quite as clever as it's predecessors
The third installment finds Marty stranded in 1955, as Doc and the Delorean are zapped into who knows when. But within moments a man who turns out to be from Western Union shows up with a dusty letter they had been holding in a safe for 70 years, with instructions to deliver it to him at this exact date and time. It's from Doc! He's happily living in 1885 and tells Marty not to come for him. But...we all know that's not going to happen and it's off to the old west for Marty and the Delorean. It's at this point that the movie turns away from the frantic efforts of restoring timelines and resolving paradoxes that the first two films revolved around and instead becomes more of a vehicle to poke at film tropes of old westerns, with a bit of a time-travel twist. It's fun, but lacking the more gripping plot lines of time travel having great consequences on future events, and all the twists and turns of setting things back to normal, it just didn't quite hold my attention the way the first two films did. If you've watched the first two of course you should watch the third, but be prepared for a film less about time travel and more about personal relationships and movie satire.
Magnum, P.I.: Tropical Madness (1981)
A different side of Higgins
Sweet, charming episode showing Higgins to be a little than his usual composed self with the ladies. The plot is entirely forgettable, but we are treated to Magnum getting beat up by a sumo wrestler and a dwarf and Higgins nervously rehearsing his opening lines for his date with a lovely young Englishwoman. Well worth watching.
Grey's Anatomy: Leave a Light On (2020)
Are they serious?
I understand that Justin Chambers departure from the show after 16 seasons was sudden and awkward but I'm still stunned that this was the exit story they chose for Karev. He dumps his mentally fragile wife to go live on a farm in Kansas with his ex-wife who dumped him 10 years ago because he suddenly learns that she gave birth to his kids via frozen embryos without telling him? I get the writers had to scramble to come up with an explanation but this is so lame it's almost an insult to long time fans of the show. Grey's just jumped the shark big time with this nonsense.
The Big Bang Theory: The Stockholm Syndrome (2019)
Um, ok, Penny doesn't want kids ...
What? Weird ending, It was established that Penny didn't want kids, but was happily pregnant in the final episode. Did I miss something?
Reckless (1984)
I was that girl
What high school did these people attend where a cute guy on a motorcycle was not the most popular guy in the world? Lots of very pretty cinematography with a cool sex scene .
Magnum P.I.: Bad Day to Be a Hero (2018)
Slowly but surely I don't hate it
Please writers, don't use background as NAVY SEAL, or British intel to explain everything that could happen on a very small island. Or use "Higgens" who can do every computer need
Mom: Big Sauce and Coconut Water (2018)
Omg, it's a Tammy freak show
Hey, ya get get out of prison, seven years later, Normal life can be tricky. Bonnie is overwhelmed taking care of recent parolee Tammy. Such a funny episode.
Magnum P.I. (2018)
No Selleck, No Stache, No Sale
I loved me some Magnum, back in the day. These were war veterans who were still struggling to adapt, and were doing so with a support from Higgins. The new show has no chemistry and suggests magnum is a comic book super hero.
The Bridge (2006)
Oh my god, It's Flower, I know that guy!
Watching this film that contained the bridge dive of I guy I knew was absolutely awful, it was personal and horrible. But it was also steps towards building a suicide net off the bridge , which will go a long way to prevention.
Girl Meets World (2014)
Lacks the charm of the original
Disney, in rebooting "Boy Meets World" has managed to completely water it down, turning it into one more pre-teen sitcom, virtually indistinguishable from all the others in its lineup. The daughter that this show revolves around is dopey, melodramatic and infantile, and poor Topanga has been reduced to the most boring straight man ever, lacking any of the passion or eccentricities of her former self. The small saving grace is the daughters best friend Maya, who is funny and wise beyond her years. Take away the nostalgia factor and you are left with a very generic Disney sitcom.
