What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962)
Classic horror at it's best.
BUT YA ARE BLANCHE YA ARE IN THAT CHAIR!!! Wow, just wow is what this film is. Normally horror flicks from the 60's are the cheesiest films you'll ever see, but this is beyond different. This film is extraordinary and works on so many different levels. Bette Davis gives an amazing performance as Jane Hudson, and Joan Crawford gives an amazing performance as well playing Blanche. The music is thrilling and fits so well with the film and it's perfect, especially the musical number Bette Davis does, it is one of the most creepiest scenes you'll ever watch. One of the best, and one of the most disturbing stories ever told in a film period. The jealously, the rivalry between the two sisters is haunting, and sometimes you have to feel sorry for both of them. Especially Blanche. The ending is also very surprising and it just might make you cry (if your a joan crawford and bette davis fan) This film is a must see for any Old Hollywood fans or just to see two great performances. This movie is a ultimate classic.
Sunset Blvd. (1950)
The GREATEST film of all!!!!!!
My favorite film of all time. Everything about this film is amazing in my opinion. It really is almost like a horror film. It shows Hollywoods weaker side and what it does to people like Norma Desmond, they make them stars, and once they get older, they throw them away as if there not needed. But it also takes slaps at writers, studios, film writers, and even directors. Wonderful script, and is masterfully filmed in black in white by Billy Wilder. The acting is absolutely amazing, everyone at their best! William Holden is wonderful in his role. You see all of his emotions very well throughout the film, when he's angry, when he feels sorry for Norma, and the helplessness on his face when he finds out Norma is madly in love with him, and he can't do anything. Max I thought was great too, but his character is quite sad, giving up his whole career of directing to take care of Norma and having to lie to her constantly, telling her she is "The greatest star of them all" and its almost like he's making it even worse. Now, Gloria freaking Swanson is just magnificent!!!!!!!!!! Everything, I mean everything about her acting in this film is spot on and incredible. When she loses it finally, it's almost like your losing it too. It's frightening almost. There's so much to discuss, I could go on and no. I can't think of any other film that is as monumental and amazing as this work of art. Gloria Swanson gives the best performence by an actress in movie history! A great classic that everyone needs to see. If you want to work in hollywood, watch this film, you might change your mind.
