Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Chapters: Special 2 (2023)
PEAK TV HAS ENDED!
Everyone knew that this show had to have a sad, emotional and painful ending. So to no shock, that is what we got. But the way we got here was such a roller coaster, I know some people don't like the ending. But come on, it had to end like this.
I am giving this a 10, and there are 2 flaws I can think of at this time, one is very minor. The final opening dropped by Linked Horizon and I chose not to watch/listen as it'll be in this episode and it wasn't.
Other flaw, when it shows Eren talking to Armin after his defeat but it was a memory of Armin's took away from him, I hated that Armin went full gigachad and said he'd date Mikasa. That was so out of character for him, other than that. Loved it.
Music kicked ass, animation kicked ass, MOMENTS kicked ass. Great ending to a great show. One that will be re-watched for sure.
Kimi no na wa. (2016)
Just wow.
Holy cow. On a whim I decided to watch this at work and I simultaneously hate and love myself for that choice.
If I was at home I wouldn't have had any distractions that had to make me pause at random times which did kill the mood, if I had let this flow straight through I'm sure I would've wept.
This movie is beautiful, just beautiful. It's so original, the story and writing is top notch. Animation is on point. The music was chef's kiss. And I did not see the twist coming. That flawed me, just such a beautiful movie that in parts had me laughing at the little sister then I'm feeling dread for what's just happened.
I love this movie, I will re-watch when I'm at home soon and most likely be in awe again.
Vinland Saga: Way Home (2023)
This broke me.
Not going to lie, I was unsure about this season. I've not been a fan of how different it is from season 1, reminds of AoT S4. (Funnily enough when Mappa started doing it)
That's not to say I've not liked it, I have. I get the story they're telling but I was still in the mood for more of the same style from season 1.
But holy smokes this episode blew me away. I was a mess! Last time I was like this was for Cyberpunk Edgerunners. Wow, just wow. For a character that really hasn't had much screen time for me to care about them, this episode made me ball my eyes out.
10/10. No debate, actual masterclass in storytelling.
Sex Education: Episode 8 (2023)
Not what anyone expected.
I am unsure on this ending tbh. On one hand I liked that characters like Eric, Ruby and Adam had great conclusions. Ruby is more down to earth, kind and forgiving. Adam excepted himself and his dad excepted him (and he's got a new smoking hot date). Eric told his truth and stood up for himself. (However the God stuff was weird, got what they were going for, but weird)
But the biggest thing is obviously Otis and Maeve. The modern day Ross and Rachel, how'd they end it with Maeve in America! Again I get it, and it's a very realistic approach, some relationships end like that. But it's a show.. I guess I just wanted them two to have a good ending together.
The Batman (2022)
On par with The Dark Knight.
If Se7en and Zodiac and Prisoners and The Dark Knight had a baby, it would be The Batman, and that is fantastic.
So many elements of this film are masterfully done; the score, cinematography, acting, sets and the writing.
Robert Pattinson has proved the haters wrong, he was incredible, his acting with just his eyes when he's in the cowl conveys so much, and he has changed his legacy as the sparkling vampire to the darkest and first DETECTIVE Batman on film.
May be bias but my all time favourite villain is Riddler, and this film done the character justice and made him utterly terrifying and unpredictable. Paul Dano is the man.
This movie is on par with The Dark Knight for me as the best Batman movie, and I want a sequel so bad.
10/10.
The Office: Goodbye, Michael (2011)
Goodbye, Michael
If you didn't cry then you're a monster.
That's it.
