Child Support (2018)
strategic holes, albeit entertaining
This show is entertaining, they have some of the kids from BuzzFeed and some I don't recognize. They are adorable, of course. That's not my issue with them, it's that they often seem bored and strained as if they really aren't having a good time. Which isn't surprising because they are basically taking a pop quiz while Ricky fake laughs at their jokes.
The biggest problem I have with this "game", if you can call it that, is the fact that a person can ultimately get every question wrong and as long as the children know their basic trivia answers THE DUMB PERSON STILL WINS A BUNCH OF MONEY. They knock off the largest sum winnable after the contestant gets a question wrong, but if the children save them, they continue on. There is NO LIMIT to how many times this can occur.
Secondly, if the contestant is doing well, and they get JUST ONE wrong and the the children are unable to answer correctly, they get absolutely nothing, no matter how far they have made it through the game! It's infuriating to watch the idiots go home with (not exactly earned) prize money, and people who had most of the knowledge to get so far got stiffed.
The Four: Battle for Stardom (2018)
Everyone loves to hate this raw gem
I wasn't expecting much from this show, and it didn't disappoint! This hits my guilty pleasure bone, it's addictive.
It is kind of odd how the challenger gets to pick from any of "The Four", it seemed that some were just a better choice although they were already locked in and therefore off limits.
I really appreciate the way the judges give their raw opinions, I can't stand listening to the people on "The Voice" who didn't turn their chairs but still give a bunch of vague positive and irrelevant feedback. Trying to save your own face and not look like a jerk, doesn't help a loser onto the right track!
I'm excited that they are going to have some of the previous Four back, because I wasn't happy with all of the final votes!
Not to mention the songs at the beginning are so awesome, it sounds amazing in my sound system!
But if anyone asked me in public, I would deny watching it, lol! I have a list of those kind of shows, and I know it's not just me. So hate all you want, I know the show is super lame! It's also extremely entertaining, and doesn't require brain function. A definite plus here in America.
It (2017)
Overall, what I expected
I didn't have incredibly high hopes for this movie, so it didn't disappoint... Until the last 1/3 of the flick!
It was actually pretty scary from an adults point of view, and the cast was great. The acting was extremely believable, at times captivating, and better than anticipated. I feel like the plot moved along at a nice pace and kept you wondering what would happen next although most of us viewers have seen the original and read the book.
My main problem was with the dancing clown scene, it was SO dumb. It ruined the fear that the rest of the movie had built up to that point, made me start laughing and I unfortunately abandoned all interest after that. They should have left more to the imagination, drawn that out longer, then showed more of the clown. "It" became silly.
The Resident (2018)
I really tried to like this show, but it sucks
I've watched the first 3 episodes and I'm done. There are so many reasons this show is no good... Besides the fact that it's far fetched considering it's a drama, on FOX, and that's to be expected.
Trying to shock middle America with the edgy "truth" of the inner workings of a typical hospital. It falls flat with it's mediocre acting, over the top coincidences, and left over themes.
I've never heard of a doctor bartering with a drug addict for cooperation, attempting to murder a perfectly good organ donor, or asking a patient how many millions of dollars he would like his lawsuit against the hospital to be..
The fact that the main character is so good looking can't save all of the completely irrelevant actors they're trying to bring back from the bargain antique bin of Hollywood. I had no idea some of these people were still around, and now have no reason to wonder why!
Apparently the main character is a injury magnet, because 2/3 of the episodes involved him, off the clock, conveniently witnessing and ultimately saving random people in need of immediate and serious medical care.
Not to mention how many times they say the main character's name Conrad in each episode, which might be a small annoying detail to some but it was so unnatural it drove me crazy!
Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2017)
Why does this have such a high rating?
I love Vince and was excited to see him in a different role, and I have to give him credit, he accomplished what he set out for. His demeanor was off putting, I continually waited for him to blow up in anger... he looked weathered and hard.
That being said, this movie flaunted it's low budget rather than embraced it. The fight scenes were over-rehearsed, forced, and slow. It created incredibly awkward moments where you wanted to be "into it" but couldn't take it seriously! There were some moments that would have been extremely grotesque had they left more to the imagination and left out the crash dummies from the Halloween store they used as victim props (continuously!) it had me cringing in embarrassment for their production company. I don't need CGI, just show less, imply more, and cover everything in blood!
I am well aware of the term "B movie", that isn't a blanket excuse to allow such a garbage plot. It wasn't that it was over the top gruesome, I enjoy dark and twisted, it was complete nonsense that had me wondering why I was still watching! Someone with a wildly uncreative imagination wrote the storyline, possibly an exotic films writer.
Lastly, the movie was incredibly slow and the storyline didn't flow well so I found myself wondering exactly what was going on the entire beginning. There wasn't much lead into the scenes, just one plopped after the next. I kept wondering if they were showing scenes from the past in order to shed light on the confusion, or if it was the present time.
They also could have gave the female role an actual backbone, he treated her like a pet.
