Archiwista (2020)
Hail to misconduct
I watched few episodes and all of them seem like a copy-paste.
In any episode Henryk an Suzanna would disrespect their duties regarding the archive and amuse themselves with unresolved cases. Suzanna would break the procedures all the time (why getting a warrant for searching the house if she was pretty certain she was on the right track). In the show she would always be on correct lead, no mistakes, no false suspect.
Their boss would be unpleased with archive remained undigitalized and Suzanna violating the procedures. He would also threaten them to fire right away, if only they misconduct again. And imagine what, next time they would go in circles. Characters remain flat and show very little development.
The bright side of the show is setting, nice Polish landscapes. Somehow interesting characters. Also some cases are quite poetic:)
Barbarians (2020)
A slow-moving action movie
I had high expectations of this series. Several hours focused on a great historical event, what could be more interesting...
I briefly knew the history of the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest and I was hoping to saw some details, depth and atmosphere. In reality the storyine appeared to be very simple and just spilled over 6 episodes. There're few well known historical facts regarding the battle and putting them in the show having this long screen time is a must. Yet creators decided otherwise. The took some facts as a skeleton and added tons of conversations, emotions and slowmotion on top. It was very dull. I started watching at x1.5 speed since the 1st episode. I got to episode 3 and then I jumped straight to the last episode. Never regretted it.
What I really liked about the show is Latin speech and costumes. Camera work was also great, some scenes are graphically astonishing.
Band of Brothers: Why We Fight (2001)
The best episode in series for me
This episode is very different to others. It's not about action scenes like bloody combats, hard training or relationship between solders.
The beginning of "Why we fight" is very peaceful, soft (including opening talk). Eventually expectation of something extremely terrifying appears... What comes next? You'd better see it on your own.
