La mujer sin cabeza (2008)
Discrimination and Racism
In this film I think that the producer wants to make us understand the fear that we could have as a result of some facts that we do, as the name says the headless woman, Veronica spends her days worried and with a guilt in her mind that maybe killed Someone on the road, she at first scares does not tell anyone what happened to her, and lives her life with fear and fear of being judged. In my opinion, we must all be responsible for our actions and we must face them good or bad. Perhaps Veronica took time to accept her guilt and manages to talk to her husband about it, it is when she feels liberated from guilt by burying herself that she was not a person but a dog. At the same time, we see the discrimination and racism that exists in that community, the social differences that exist in the community. It is clear who has more money and who does not. Verónica's personal appearance changes to the fact that she is not guilty of anything, like changing her hair color, which shows that she is free and open to a new stage in her life, a calmer and happier life with her family and friends. There is also the sad reality of the Argentine society, which is also another country that is underdeveloped with social and economic problems.
Pelo malo (2013)
"Identity Search"
I think that in this movie Pelo Malo by Mariana Rondón shows the problematic of the identity search of the Junior child. At the same time, it touches on topics such as family, childhood, racism, popular culture, and also the social, political and economic situation of Venezuelan society. Junior appears in the film as a poor child of low resources but he wants to look different from what he is, that's why he wants to lace his hair to pretend to be another but. But this brings with it the idea of racism in that society, her mother thinks she sees herself as a woman, not as a man. I think this happens because of the problem that exists in those Latin American countries that have a very old culture rooted in their society, like machismo. Racism is another problem in these countries, people can be treated and judged by just how they look physically. You can also see the desperation of the junior mother to be able to work and that without her work, her children could not eat, a sad reality in these poor countries. In his in this story shows the social reality of Venezuela, and the discrimination that is seen and felt in the streets of this country.
Ixcanul (2015)
"Crude reality of indigenous women"
This film directed by Jayro Bustamante shows the harsh reality for which indigenous groups of Guatemala live especially women. You can clearly see the discrimination and exploitation that these indigenous people live in their own country. This reality is captured in the story of María, a young indigenous woman from Guatemala who is forced to marry by her parents for their convenience with a man she does not want. and she wants by all means that this does not happen because she is in love with Pepe, a young man who works on the coffee plantation. Due to a pregnancy life changes for Maria with many events and beliefs that she lives due to her mother. The illegal trafficking of children is another issue in this film, it is very unfortunate that this happens a lot in these countries with low economic resources, mainly this happens to poor people and those who cannot condemn these facts. The producer Bustamante also wants to express the feeling and real language of the indigenous people of this region that is why almost all the actors are people who live in the area, who speak the Kaqchikel language. He shows us a current real-life aspect in that region of indigenous women who are discriminated against and who do not have any kind of education and privilege. With this story, the producer denounces these acts of discrimination and illegal trafficking of children but at the same time shows a family that even with its old culture and a closed mentality experiences feelings of joy, sadness, hope and love one another regardless of time where they live.
Que Horas Ela Volta? (2015)
"A class struggle"
It is a story centered on the life of Val, a maid who lives serving a high-class family 24 hours a day, where Don Carlos is a billionaire and his wife Barbara is a design professional, there is also his son Fabricio, a very spoiled child. Val has a daughter and takes her to live with her. When Jessica arrives at that house, everything changes. Jessica belongs to another generation and does not accept that her mother is treated badly. She demands that Val does not resign herself to living like this all her life serving and that she seeks other aspirations. It shows Val's lack of his own dignity due to his education and social beliefs. It also shows the tragedy of some mothers who dedicate themselves to work more and do not dedicate themselves to the upbringing of their children, which causes the lack of love of their children to their mothers. This film clearly shows the social divisions that still exist in these times. But also in this new generation, this problem can be broken with the independence of equal rights as shown when going to university equally. A second mother is a film that shows the social classes and opportunities in Brazil today. It also brings us closer to two different generations of mother and daughter and the struggle for aspirations of equality, tolerance, and respect. Which I think carries a positive and optimistic message for the new generations.
La teta asustada (2009)
"Live without fear"
After seeing the movie "The Milk of Sorrow" by Peruvian filmmaker Claudia Llosa. I have the opinion that it is a story of fear provoked by popular beliefs in Peru, because some women in the Shining Path Era, a Guerrilla group of the eighties that it emerged in Peru, they were raped and mistreated and had children marked by this fear. Fausta is a young woman marked and judged by society since she is the daughter of a rape and her mother was responsible for transmitting this fear with popular beliefs such as the frightened tit, "milk of sorrow", which is transmitted by mothers to their mothers. babies. You can also clearly see the social racism in this movie. After the death of Fausta's mother, she needs to get money to be able to bury her mother in her homeland, that's when she gets a job in a house of high social class where the owner takes advantage of her shyness and lack of education by stealing a song that uses it as theirs. Fausta confronts her fears in that house and confronts them when she meets the gardener of the house, speaks with her own language that is Quechua, she feels very good with him. Fausta's strength is imposed on the pain and fear in which he lived in that society, he manages to remove the potato he had in his body, which caused him discomfort. She manages to bury her mother but first she goes through the sea that signals the new life that awaits her later, a hope of a new life for Fausta, without fears, without pain. The film also shows violence against women that leaves them soulless and very afraid.
