The Boys: Here Comes a Candle to Light You to Bed (2022)
I don't like the gore in the movie, but like the character development
So the show, I think when it started in Season 1 was not so much about the gore and violence. But of late, especially in this particular episode, it feels like it's primarily focused on violence and unnecessary gore repesntation. Not for me.
Dota: Dragon's Blood (2021)
Amazing Series: Well made.
I loved the series. It is not strictly related to Dota 2 and does not require previous knowledge of the game. However, it does not deviate from the world either and diehard fans can spot many things that others would miss.
Besides the Dota 2 lore, the actual series is well made. Its slightly fast-paced, but that is because the producers had to cut short to accommodate for Netflix's timings. I really hope Book 2 is coming out soon, cause this deserves another season.
Joker (2019)
Joaquin Phoenix steals the show with amazing acting.
Joaquin Phoenix steals the show in this beautifully crafted show. From storyline, direction, acting to post-production everything was handled really well.
there is gore violence in the movie, but at no point is it unnecessary or not a part of the story. it speaks to the character's development and gives us a glimpse into the mental state of "Joker". at the end of the movie, you could be forgiven for feeling sorry for Joker and all those who oppress us. No wonder US Police Department issued advisories to local state departments to guard the area outside movie theatres.
It is a must watch, even if you have no idea of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or Batman. There is a small overlap with Batman and the Wayne family, but you will be able to understand the movie even if you don't have knowledge of Batman Universe
Article 15 (2019)
Strong Acting and excellent Direction
This movie shows that Bollywood can co-exist and produce some strong entertainment with a strong social message. Must watch ( maybe even three times )
Kabir Singh (2019)
Misogynist, Substance Abuse and Pathetic direction
The movie has elements which could convert into a strong story. Instead Kiara Advani plays a lacklustre character with minimal voice lines. The actress in this movie has no spine, no character and is regressive in such times. She stays for Kabir and he almost 'owns' her. And the movie celebrates this. The movie is full of substance abuse and pathetic acting except for Shahid Kapoor. Definitely not worth a single watch
Game Over (2019)
Amazing acting, incomplete storyline
The movie started off so strong, great acting led by none other than Taapsee. However post the Interval, the storyline just disintegrates into a messy situation. The director / writer could have provided a better ending within the context of the current storyline. They could have created this into a fantasy movie which would make the storyline more believable.
Men in Black: International (2019)
A decent attempt, poor implementation
The movie was decent, it did not have the same charisma and awe of the initial movies. The actors are good but the storyline and direction is obviously different than what the initial movies portrayed. For fans of Men in Black, this was a big disappointment. Wouldn't rate it more than a 6 and even that is due to nostalgia reasons.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
Poor Acting by Sophie
Sophie Turner as Jean just doesn't make sense. She cannot reprise the role and despite having the most powerful mutant there was simply no force.
Mind the Malhotras (2019)
100% a watch, a welcome comic series
The show was so well done with timely deliveries of dialogues and the excellent acting by Cyrus and Mini. The duo are able to carry the show quite easily and the biggest reason remains their comic timing.
I'd love to see this show continue in its current form, and its almost as if you had developed a small understanding relationship with the characters. Exposing the weird nature of the family while touching upon their 'evil' plans to keep their children close is wonderful to watch.
I Am Mother (2019)
A great movie, holds promise
The movie was great, I loved how they handled the emotions and relationship between a droid and the child. With knowledge only about The droid for her entire life, its fascinating to watch her understand how humans can be deceptive, yet loving at the same time.
The movie's ending is great and open ended which leaves the promise for more to come. Looking forward.
PM Narendra Modi (2019)
Poor acting and writing
The movie doesn't feel like anything other than a propoganda movie. The writing is very tepid and doesn't weave the story together at all.
This might be the worst Vivek Oberoi movie till date with his acting feeling so restrained
Four More Shots Please! (2019)
Why did they make this ?
A Show on modern Mumbai women definitely has potential. But this show felt one without much substance, I wish there were a deeper level of story instead of just sex every 2 minutes. Very disappointed with this show and even the acting was not upto par.
Love Lust and Confusion (2018)
Good Acting, Poor Script.
I really liked the acting in the series. Tara-Alisha Berry & Rajat Barmecha were the standout performers for me. But the script was very weak. I get it, the title is Love, Lust and Confusion. But the entire show's story is probably just 1 hour long.
Most of the episodes are completed with fillers. The actors deserved a good script and I hope to see them further in more TV shows in the future.
Do You Trust This Computer? (2018)
A take on the horrific yet beautiful AI
AI is here and its the future. The movie details the current situation of AI and the rapid pace of AI development. It is truly scary to consider the fact that Super Intelligence is probably just 5-10 years away
