Fire Country (2022)
That's it, really?
We have been watching this show mainly because of Max Thieriot who was on Seal Team. But the season finally was the last one, and even that one, I walked out when I saw where the scene with Bode and the Parole Investigator woman was going. Extorting Bode was ridiculous! He should have turned the tables on her when they were in front of family and friends in that room and told her to tell everyone exactly what she said to him in the other room.
And the opening scene with 2 lesbians...come on! And the 2 guys in the mudslide..."My HUSBAND and I". What a shame. Pushing the gay agenda is getting tiresome and unwatchable.
How in the world can the show be about Bode if he is going back to prison??? Yeah, yeah...he will be exonerated at some point but with the main character in prison, how does the story line get redeemed? What a mess.
The Equalizer (2021)
It's entertainment folks!
My husband and I really love the show. Considering the amount of violence (which doesn't bother us), we were very happy with the lack of foul language.
We will never understand why people trash a new t.v. shows that are remakes of old movies. It's not supposed to be an Academy Award winning show, it supposed to just be entertainment.
We would rather see the networks dump all of the so-called "reality" shows that are ridiculously embarrassing and sooooooo fake!!
We were really looking forward to the show and we were not disappointed.
A Christmas Carol (2019)
So disappointing!
As Christmas Carol nuts, my husband and I were looking forward to a "new" Christmas Carol, especially because of Guy Pearce...but by the time it finished, we felt cheated as there was no redeeming ending at all. This was a very DARK version...all the way to the end.
Marley is dead and therefore could not be redeemed/forgiven/at peace because he died a miserable penny-pinching miser, not helping humanity at all during his lifetime. "It is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgement." Even if this movie version of Scrooge became the most generous man ever (..and he knew how to keep Christmas well, more than any man alive)...Marley could not be forgiven through Scrooge as his fate had been sealed already.
This is NOT a family friendly movie by any means!!! I am positive that there are no F-bombs in the Charles Dickens novel, no having Mrs. Cratchit disrobe for possible sexual intercourse with Scrooge for money, no hint at a young Scrooge being sexually molested by the Headmaster of the school, no forgiveness from the Cratchit family, and the fact that Scrooge never did admit that his life was irredeemable.
We kept watching, hoping that it would come close to the novel, but there was only a few times when the actual novel came through. I told my husband that we need to watch the Alistair Sim version to get the awful taste of this version out of our minds. The Muppet Christmas Carol is a joyful version at the end even with Michael Caine playing a wicked Scrooge through the movie.
Don't waste 3 hours and 15 minutes of your time on this version...especially if you are an aficionado of the "Christmas Carol/Scrooge" movies.
9JKL (2017)
Love this show!
My husband and I just don't get why people need to be so very negative! This show is hilarious and is taped in front of a LIVE audience. It's clean, imagine that! We think it's great that Mark F. created a sitcom where, according to him, the stories are based on his real life. All the actors/characters have chemistry and are funny! Nick the concierge fella is a hoot! Come on people...give it a chance. It is not supposed to be an Academy Award show...just a fun sitcom to watch and laugh with.
The Box (2009)
Great premise, not a great story
Someone in another review said they didn't know why the movie was set in 1976. Really? 1976 was free of cell phones, camera cell phones, text messages, computers, and pretty much every 2009 instant, at your fingertips type of communications. Those devices would have allowed them to instantly research and communicate around the world to see if others had been offered "The Box". The premise of the "The Box" is actually an interesting one.
Money (One Million dollars in 1976??? That was a huge amount of money then!) at the press of a button and the only "drawback" is that some stranger WILL die, or give back the box and go on with your life as normal. A moral dilemma to be sure. In these cash strapped times, I'm afraid folks would be dropping dead all over the place!!
But throwing in aliens using someones body who show people a sort of afterlife...HUH???
One of Mr. Steward's final lines was "You almost gave me hope" or something like that, regarding the human race's treatment of each other and a possible non-obliteration at the hands of the aliens, was along the same story line as "The Day the Earth Stood Still" without the offer of $1,000,000.00. Make nice with each other or we will cause the earth to be extinct...a sort of Alien parking lot, if you will.
Too bad...this movie had the potential to be a great show.
