TOO SUPERFICIAL!
29 October 2021
I believe, if Nolan watched this movie for the first time, as an outsider like all the plain audience, he will not understand the plot enough to enjoy the film as a whole. Obviously, he took years to set all the pieces. And from this normal confusion state, the film becomes with so few attractive things to feel about it...and very superficial in form.

One of the best sci-fi movies ever.
27 December 2017
I won't go into the main plot. But I just say that if one has not any background related to the original manga japanese animated movie perhaps one can really enjoy this film afresh and see how awsome it is. Obviously because of the powerful original history, which is tranformed into a hollywood production quite well. As a proof, just compare this film, its plot, with any other Hollywood 100-200 million production, and you will see the risk they have taken to show this sci-fi history in a non-animated fashion, with incredible special effects and not losing the original track at all, although simplified.

Sabotaging itself
18 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Well, where to begin? Anywhere.

Beyond incredible special effects, and as everybody is saying, how is it possible that the writters, director and the whole crew of a 200-300 milon dollar movie don't see as spectactors all this plot anticlimaxes and cringe outlook? It is some sort of mistery how making a movie will really be, there must be so many unkown production interests and therefore biassed opinions that the thing put together becomes rubish in the core. On the other hand, good news ideas, as force telepathy in order to explore the intense and somewhat complex relation between characters and its development turns into nothing at the first opportunity. Then, the meditation-holograme part with death as a conclusion by exhaustion, no words... There are so many ways of incorporating quality drama mixed with light-sabers and spectacular earth-alien or space scenarios that, again, one asks: how is it possible? Then, the philosophical teaching part is just embarrassing....and contradictory in itself. And finally, the idea that the good and the bad is relative is thrown to the garbage and the movie ends again with the good and the bad conflict, so wasting the previuos time and killing the dramatic tension again.

And a lot of things more, time wasted with Finn ant the planet of rich and insensitive people looking for a decoder (it is incredible how almost idiotic subplots emerge in order to diverge the story and to give room to some characters, and also the childish B-movie aspects of the first movies, which could be succesfully overcome now, are mantained as if it were a Star Wars caracteristic: the decoder of the speed of light tracer and so on !!!). Also, too much Poe ( certainly is not Han Solo: will they see that?), etcetera and on and on. Then, the humorous part works in some scenes but there are other where you can see the Marvel style, the need to gag out of place which cuts the narrative when does not work, as it happens.

The are good things of course, some good elections with new creatures, and as I said some intention in the good direction that is sabotaged in the same film minutes ahead!!!! As the strong parts of the force awekening are sabotaged too. Just one word, Snoke!!!!! Perhaps, this indicates that two or more people had wanted to do its his way, pulling the creative process in different directions, triying to satisfy economic, social, racial, gender, productive, artistic interests...and of course, the outcome: a messy film that will produce a deep hurt into the collective perception of star wars... perhaps earn lots of Money but that they had earned too with another whole aproach, in fact more risky.

It could be perfect but it is not.
11 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This is a very rare film in today's cinema for one basic reason: the slow pace. This is the most interesting thing, a lot of silence and music where you can see and feel the beautiful lighted scenarios, with perfect new blade runner aesthetic, it perfectly spread from the first part 2019. I enjoy it very much. Music plays its part in it and continues with the Vangelis work good enough (perhaps one demands a new very good song to add, but...). On the other hand the plot has its excellent parts too, the most, and some crucial errors that impedes this movie to go a step further and be a instantaneous classic and at the top of science fiction and thriller's history. One of the obvious mistakes is to prepare the ground for sequels. So, there too many undeveloped things, the most important of them is the Niander Wallace character. But also, all the Freysa and replicant revolution and also the newborn replicant character shallow deepness. This sense of incompleteness is killing a lot of films and Blade runner 2049 is not an exception, ans the contrary. A part from that, as I said, I enjoyed the film, the slow pace, gathering information step by step, the true detective kind of story, this going into the blade runner special universe and philosophy, the good idea of comparing the Artificial intelligence of the programmed holograms to replicants, everybody machines as humans are, etc (but perhaps with this romantic hologram which is a very good movie in itself wasting a bit of time to go into the main plot and improve the general plot) A lot of things to say about...but to sum up...cinema of 150 million dollars in something different, as Cristopher Nollan or other few directors are doing.
