The West Wing: Enemies Foreign and Domestic (2002)
Interesting plot lines and some old friends
Running multiple plot lines keeps it interesting, and complex. The echoes of reality are very poignant. Or is that prescience of our reality today?
Russian emissaries work with the team to prepare for a Russia / USA meeting of Presidents... one of whom I knew but couldn't place. Perhaps he'd make a very capable hotel concierge for John Wick?
We see the arrival of Mark Harmon (Later NCIS boss, Leroy Jethro Gibbs) in a similar role for another agency. His boss is also from a similar role in later series or films.
Every time Admiral Fitzwallace appears I have trouble seeing him as anything other than the proprietor of a Maccas knock off franchise in Coming to America.
Charlie digs into a mystery to find a connection with FDR.
The people playing these roles are really capable actors who suck me into their reality each episode.
Chicago P.D.: Infection, Part III (2019)
Scary scenario
The cross over wasn't clear so I thought I'd missed episodes in CPD but they were in Chicago Med and CFD.
The prospect of dealing with flesh eating bacteria and a perp on the run is compelling. Especially after coming out of COVID just a year ago.
The demonstration of coordination and collaboration of emergency services in the service of the public was inspiring.
The final comments about the character of emergency services was similarly moving.
As for comments about Haley with a long range rifle, police develop a range of specialist skills through their attachments.
I'll have to look at it again but it seems that this episode might have some simple biology goofs, which would be disappointing.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: I Deserve Some Loving Too (2020)
From little acorns...
SVU stories are complex at times, but rarely start with a leaser crime like groping on a train to explode to much bigger, tragic predation.
Props to the cast and crew who bring such believable performances in extreme situations. Also, the variety of actors playing in the show and their unusual character nationalities and origins keeps it vibrant and novel.
Having had quite a shake up over a couple of seasons, I'd really like to see more of the new deputy Chief Garland and also the transit cop Ari'el Stachel as Sgt Haskim Khaldun. He and Rollings work well together and his character epitomises the interesting back story I mentioned above.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: Uncle (2006)
Love SVU for the cameos
I was positive I saw a young Val Kilmer... gee I love how that happens on this show... so many actors had bit parts or cameo roles so far. Easier to see when uu binge the show.
As it turns out Val wasn't here, but found his name was Ryan Brown as suspect Trey Williams. Val would be 47 too - a bit older than the character.
Such Disappointment...
But then who turns up as a homeless man?
Not only looking like the perfect fit for the crime as a literally dirty old man, there turns up a serious connection with one of the main characters.
In another surprise, the A seriously famous performer, but from a different time and genre. I love this show again.
This episode has some serious depth about psychological conditions, care of the elderly, not counting chickens too early and CSI technique.
Stabler and his new partner are finding their feet.
And a cameo! What more can we ask?
Marine Boy (1968)
Childhood Favourite High Tech Action
Great cartoon series. Marine boy's propeller shoes, electric boomerang and oxygum: Oxygen releasing gum were unique inventions for the time and beyond. Magic series. Now I have to track it down.
