Santa Inc. (2021)
Cold, heartless and cynical
Good concept regarding having to replace Santa Clause because he's too old, but the whole social justice angle is just worn out by now. People are exhausted by it. We're bombarded by it incessantly. So rather than making a film that could and should be fun, full of levity with a unifying message of good will to all men etc, we get this bitter concoction that sums up western media for what it is. Old, outdated and devoid of any real glimmer of hope or creativity.
Dune (2021)
High-concept sci fi at it's finest
Wonderfully realised vision that transports you to another world.
Critics complaining about this film having little plot or "characterisation" should stick to watching sci fi guff with protagonists in spandex's going pew pew pew with their laser guns. If you want obvious plots with cheesy one liners every second, this film definitely ain't for you.
Bill Burr: Paper Tiger (2019)
Entertaining, but not his best.
Feel like ol' billy rednuts maybe running out of a bit of steam. Guy's still one of the best in the game, easily. The material just felt more ranty than well formulated. If you've listened to his podcast, you've heard half of the jokes already.
The Great Hack (2019)
Could have been great.
Information was spot on in regards to how our data is used and manipulated, the narrative slant just reeks of sour milk though. The losing side both in the Brexit vote and the 2016 election just can't handle the fact that they got played at their own game. They used every dirty trick in their arsenal and still lost. Rather than contemplating why and what they can do different next time to resonate with voters, they'd rather just blame everyone else but themselves.
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Do NOT pay attention to the critics.
Critics are made up of a fretenity of consumate failures. Failed writers, directors, actors, musicians, who once had a dream but didn't have any discernible talent to fulfil such visions. So instead they dedicate their lives now to picking apart films made about and by people they secretly want to be. Don't listen to them. This film is everything any Queen fan could have ever asked for. Great acting, pacing, direction is great and the soundtrack, well... we always knew this is an area in which this film would prevail. GO AND SEE THIS FILM.
