History of Evil (2024)
What was the point?
This movie has no idea what it wants to be. A horror movie? A political thriller? Dystopian post-civil war thing? It never really grasped on to any idea and ran with it. It alludes to some much stuff that it makes you wonder what the actual story is. It's not scary, it's not thought provoking, it doesn't advance any political ideology, it really doesn't do anything. 97 minutes and it turns out, the real villian was inside the whole time? I don't know. Is it just a mash up of all the stories that got pitched to the production company that month? Was this a dare that someone put way too much money into? I don't know and I doubt anyone who worked on this film in any shape or form knows either.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
Enjoyable
I've never read the book(s?) and this was a fun watch. Can't wait for the next season! I only give it 10 stars to offset all the fan boy 1 star reviews. Overall, it's an interesting story and can be enjoyed by those who haven't read the book. If you have read the book, look at this as an alternate universe version and maybe you'll enjoy the show too. Now, I'm just writing things to come up to the 600 character requirement to leave a review. When did that start? I used to write one line reviews but this is ridiculous. I'm pretty sure I've hit 600 characters but I'll keep going until it says I can submit.
Honor Society (2022)
Sexual Exploitation
They attempt to make a comedy "movie" with a plot point being let's have a 17 year student "seduce" an adult. Then when the adult tries to move in on the seduction, he's shot down. But it's supposed to be funny? Or empowering for the young lady? It just felt all wrong and really made me dislike the film.
Crimes of the Future (2022)
Thought provoking
This "movie" will make you think such things as: Why did they make this thing? How desperate were the actors who starred? How do I get back 2 hours of my life? Why is Viggo's character an asthmatic ninja?
Dual (2022)
Robotic
The acting in this film is almost as stiff and wooden as Aaron Paul's dancing. Was Karen Gillen supposed to be autistic in this? Her lack of emotion and ability to connect certainly make it seem so. Also, why on earth did Theo James ever agree to appear in his film for all of 20 seconds? Absolute waste of data on someone's hard drive.
Last Survivors (2021)
What?
Okay storyline but the ending was terrible and the plot holes are deep. Also, how is this listed under Sci-fi? I was hoping the wars talked about would turn out to be an alien invasion and we'd get a kind of body-snatchers plot. Oh, and it's very predictable.
Raising Dion: ISSUE #208: Who You Are (2022)
Setting Up For Season 3
The series finale set up what could be an amazing season 3. If there is no season 3, then I'd give it 2 stars for an extremely unsatisfying end and for some questionable botany.
The Harder They Fall (2021)
Loved it!
The "main" characters of Nat Love and Rufus Buck were outshined by Cherokee Bill (Lakeith Stanfield) and Jim Beckwourth (RJ Cyler) who really stole the show for me. All the characters do have historical references in the real world so I don't know what people are complaining about there. Maybe go read some books about the men and women such as Stagecoach Mary, Bill Pickett, et al. My only real complaint is, on my home stereo, the soundtrack was overwhelming at times. Just unnecessarily loud. I'd love to see more of these characters in prequels.
Karen (2021)
An absurd comedy?
If you look at this as an absurd comedy from the perspective as it's about showing all the typical "Karen" funny videos in a movie its not bad. But then someone started trying to make it serious. They should have played up the part a Karen getting everything she wants but then having a devastating fall from all the people she fought with.
The acting isn't all that great either.
Rushed (2021)
AMAZING FILM!
This movie was truly amazing and I'll edit this review after IMBd, the cover art, and the genres of this film are changed.
Drama: Yes
Horror: NOT AT ALL
Mystery: WHAT MYSTERY?
Thriller: kinda
The cover art has that spooky vibe...total BS.
The Stand: The End (2020)
It was Okay
It's a decent start but why didn't they double check the spelling of the town that adjoins one of the largest military bases in the world? Killeen is not that difficult to spell or pronounce, Kill-een. But they spelled it like Ky-leen. Unless they wanted to connect your mind to Fort Hood but still be able to say all locations are fictional. I don't know but to anyone with knowledge of the town, it's distracting.
