Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (2022)

Quit setting every movie in New York City

Lyle Lyle Crocodile was flat, scattered, had odd editing and pacing at times...the story never made me cry nor really feel much of anything...and voicing the crocodile with Shawn Mendes was a cheap celebrity grab that my brain just couldn't buy, because the crocodile doesn't sound like himself, he just sounds like Shawn Mendes. You don't really feel for the characters, but they're not terrible people either, so my brain isn't sure how exactly to feel about them.

There are countless thousands and thousands of cities in the United States: start setting some movies in ANY other city besides just NYC.

Bros (I) (2022)

How annoying can a main character get?

At the beginning of Bros, the main character Bobby was really annoying.

At the middle of the movie, Bobby was really annoying.

By the end of the movie...Bobby was still pretty annoying.

While Bros has SOME laughs, there were also just as many scenes so painfully awkward that I turned my eyes away. There were so many "Chekhov's guns" that weren't fired, random details added into the story that were never mentioned again. The final scene wasn't anything special, the movie just...ends. There are some enjoyable parts of this movie IF the viewer is gay, but heterosexual watchers aren't really going to get that much out of the story.

A few years ago, the humor of Napoleon Dynamite and the talking speed of Gilmore Girls hung out and played Cards Against Humanity together.

They conceived a baby and gave birth to Letterkenny.

Totally didn't sob my eyes out, nope

My manly self has never *DEFINITELY-NOT-CRIED-AT-ALL-NOT-ME* before as hard as I *DEFINITELY-NOT-CRIED-AT-ALL-NOT-ME* while watching Love, Simon.

This beautiful movie was absolutely heart-wrenching, well-made, poignant, funny, relatable, and had a great plot with some Easter eggs that you don't notice until you've watched it more than once.

Abominable (2019)

Cute yet blandly forgetable

Abominable had some pretty visuals and cheesey feel-good emotions, BUT:

#1: The creature's "magical" abilities were just cheap ex machina plot conveniences, like taking the kids to the top of Mount Everest on fish-looking clouds, and #2: The last scenes never showed how the heck the kids got back down from the mountain! One minute, the creature had taken them to meet its family at the top of Mount Everest, and the next scene, the kids are suddenly back in their city. How did they survive a descent back through the Himalayas alone???
