Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Unsatisfying to say the least!
Just finished watching the 1st season after putting it off.
If this were actually the first Star Trek series as it is so set in the chronology, there would not have been any to follow. The scripts are terrible; a bit of movement forward then some pastey dialogue meant to use up some screen time. This is amateurish writing. And, yes, the lopsided amount of time given to Michael whomever is trying on the intellect. She does not possess the charisma required to carry the series. The plot catapults like a tennis ball, moving from one immense problem in one universe to another in an alternate universe. A word to Star Trek producers, cut the alternate universe out already. We've seen it in several other series in one form or another by now and it has become tedious. Focus on a cohesive plot, with characters that exhibit character. There are several from the past that could be cited of which you must be aware. BTW, the Klingons have turned into monsters. This is a result of the advances in technology come with the most recent incarnation of ST. They are eye catching but, unfortunately, at the expense of the acting and plot itself. This could be done in cartoon form with this dialogue. Maybe there's nothing left to say except "where are we" and "what's going on." Star Trek Next Generation and Deep Space Nine are the best, followed by the others and lastly, this incredibly amateurish performance. Hey, producers and writers, you are given the task of producing a worthwhile series. So far, you are several thousand light years away.
Fortitude (2015)
2nd Season is Ridiculous!
I gave it 5 because the first Season was great, well written, acted, suspenseful and unusual enfolding plot, well worth watching. I looked forward to the second season and just finished the ten episodes last night. Then I couldn't wait to write this review. Somewhere along the way in the second season, the writers, directors, whomsoever, lost their minds. It becomes a melodrama to put it mildly. The actors characters are stretched to outrageous lengths, causing most of them to become madmen, irrational, murders, or just confused. I would not have begun to watch the 2nd season if I knew to what depths it would sink. Preposterous, absurd, even insulting to the intellect is not too strong a description of the 2nd season. Did they, the producers etc., try to hurry it along and sacrifice the script? Or, after producing a very good 1st season, force a plot for the 2nd season without really having one? Whatever, as someone who recommended the 1st season to many friends I am embarrassed after watching the 2nd season. Sky Television should have know better.
Hunted (2012)
Spoiler! Good Drama But.....
I agree with all the kudos other reviewers have made regarding this series. Good characters, action, suspense (stretching credulity a bit at times), and well acted Why only a 7? The conclusion is totally not credible. An absolutely unbelievable action occurs with no hint of forewarning and no explanation of the how this happened and the final scene. I can only surmise it was expected to have a second season where all would be explained. However, this appears not to be the case rendering the "willing suspension of disbelief" unable to cover. The manner in which this occurs is too far fetched to be forgivable. Very disappointing as I enjoyed it until then.
