Brotherly Love (2015)
watch. watch. watch
This movie is truly enjoyable. Being as though I have a Netflix account, I have been fortunate enough to watch this film multiple times. most likely, I've watched this movie about 7 or 8 times. if you are one who does not have access to the movie, in my opinion, it would be worth the $10 you'll spend to rent it. With great actresses like Keke Palmer and actors Quincy Brown and Cory Hardwick Jr., this film was destine to be a hit with the younger audience.
This movie is basically about the community in Philadelphia, which is divided between the upper class and the middle/ lower class. Although they don't get along, all the students attend Overbrook High. The story follows a group of siblings who pay the price for their oldest brother June's decision to kill a few upper class dealers. A cousin of one of the boys ( Quincy Brown), who was murdered and witnessed the shooting, plans revenge by sweeping the sister off her feet, just to get close to the brother that committed the murders. it all comes back to haunt the family.
Some cinematography included in this film are Slow Motion and Zoom and short like blinking clips. One example of the Slowed Motion scenes is when June has the big basketball game against a rival school. When he scores throughout the game, it is slowed down to emphasize his impact on the game and how well he is playing. Also when he scores the winning basket.
If I had to change one thing abut this film, it would most likely be the ending. The brother is murdered by the cousin and leaves the sister heartbroken with the loss of her brother and the actions of her first real love and significant other. I would have let June live and the cousin gets past what happen to his cousin.
Don't Breathe (2016)
check it out !!!!
In my opinion, Don't Breath was the best movie of the summer. I went and seen it with some friends and at the end I wanted to replay the movie. When I first seen the preview, I thought I was going to be scary. Turns out it's really not. Most of the parts in the movie that made the audience scream and jump were just unexpected things that popped onto the screen quickly. I was impressed with the story line. I had never heard of a movie even remotely similar and it took a lot of creativity to create the story line they did.
Some things that I didn't really like where the killing of the character "Alex" and the ending. The death of Alex was sad and made the entire movie theater upset. He was a good kid that was drawn to the wrong crowd by love. He went out defending the one he loved so I guess that was a plus. At the end of the movie, the man ends up surviving and the director sets the scenes up to let viewers believe there could be a sequel. The movie was already, there's no need to drag it on with a whole new movie.
Some significant cinematography include but are not limited to: no-diegetic music, long Dutch angles and short clips that keep the viewers glued. In one scene, I enjoyed the actor's style. the blind man was trying to find the kids in the dark. I think its cool that the director threw this in there.( he evened the playing field)the look and expressions on the actors faces are priceless and could was interesting to see.
Overall, I enjoyed this movie. I would pay to watch it again. I don't feel the need to mention specifics but the director had very effective ways of making sure his film was remembered. go check it out !!!
Zootopia (2016)
expect the unexpected
Rate: 9 out of 10
This movie is not really what Is expected. Based on previews and trailers, I assumed it would be a lame kids movie that I would see my 6 year old sister watching. After the first few minutes I was intrigued. Some of my favorite parts were the reference to the classic 1972 film "The Godfather". I also like how this movie is packed with life lessons. This is usually the norm for Disney movies but this one brings an interesting point considering its only animals. Without giving to much away, this film basically teaches you to chase your dreams no matter who tells you its unattainable. To live your life free and to be open to different cultures and experiences. This movie has a great theme and story line. Its easy to stay with and an overall enjoyable film for the entire family. If there was one thing in this movie that I could change, it would most likely be giving the main character Judy Hopps at least one person that believed in her. She had not a single person in her corner until the movie progresses.
Some significant cinematography were close ups and aerial shots when Judy begins to spy on her witness. Scenes that start behind the shoulder just as seen in the godfather. Some Diegetic sound is incorporated, especially in the opening credits and the scene where the animal citizens get of the train in Zootopia.
