Black Mirror: Joan Is Awful (2023)
Solid start to the series
I love Black Mirror, for me it's the modern day twilight zone.
Bizarrely I was speaking to someone today about AI. I mentioned that apparently someday we'd be able to create films just by telling it what characters and genre we wanted and we'd have our own personal film.
She'd actually talked to Charlie Brooker yesterday about AI and he'd apparently said he'd tried recent AI apps and they were rubbish (think there was a few more swear words involved).
It was so weird to come home and watch a Black Mirror episode about AI.
It's a good start to the new season, I think Brooker is brilliant.
But now I can't help thinking that I'm living in some kind of simulation! 🤔
Utopia (2020)
Yes the original series is better but...
This series isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I watched the original when it first aired. It's probably the most disturbing series I've ever watched.
I like stuff that's makes you think but the C4 series scared me, and I'm used to watching scary, so I think the general public wouldn't be able to handle it.
No doubt this Is watered down tf, and the original the the better series, but it's still worth viewing. Maybe it's best for the general public.
It's still disturbing, although nowhere near the level of the original series.
And probably watered down enough for the general public to watch.
Choose or Die (2022)
A decent watch.
I'm surprised by the low rating, it deserves above a 4. Good acting, not too long, and I love the premise. As long as you dont expect too much, its definitely worth a watch. Be warned though Robert Englund isn't in the film!
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
A classic
Watches this again for the first time in many years. Some films fade as time passes. This doesn't. Uplifting while being so sad at the same time. A classic.
The Stranger (2020)
Excellent acting and a satisfactory ending!
Binge-watched the full series today, and happy to report that it was well worth it. Certainly keeps you on the edge of your seat and unlike so many series nowadays, it doesn't leave you waiting for another series - it actually has an ending! Great acting throughout, a good story and definately worth a watch.
See You Yesterday (2019)
Good film.
I'd not watched this film because of the poor ratings. I'm a white male from the uk so realise the film wasn't made for someone like me. But to integrate racism with a time travel theme must be so difficult and for spike lee to come up with this film is brilliant. Loved the acting and thought the ending was great, even though when it does end, you might want more. I think that's the sign of a good film. A good watch, never boring, watch it!
Running Out Of Time (2018)
Horrendous
How did someone read this script and decide it was good enough to make a movie? Add too that some of the worst acting you will ever see and overall you've got one of the worst films you will ever see.
