I Love Lucy: Home Movies (1954)
Season 3, Episode 20
1/10
Awful
27 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Compared to season on me episodes this one just demonstrates how far the show had fallen by season 3 . This is trebly awful never laughed once

Based on the laugh out loud season one I bought the dvd box set all 6 seasons .. I'm sorry I did now as I'm struggling to make it past season 3 . Big mistake and waste of money ...

Mind boggling how this episode can get a 8.4 average it's crazy . The story is so silly 'we got mad at you because...' pathetic ! And Lucy, Ethel and Fred are just silly as cowboys. Even Ricky is not funny in this one !

Once again spoiled brat Lucy has to get her own way . 1/10.

My Partner the Ghost (1969–1971)
10/10
Brilliant , I love it so much
24 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have read a few bad reviews here in the reviews section about this tv show. So I want to add a positive one. I love this tv show , as do my kids... it's a lot of fun , with some great adventures and storylines. The main 3 actors are brilliant , the chemistry between Jeff and Marty is amazing , you really get the love they have for one another like brothers , only they more or less live together .. the beautiful Annette Andre as Jeannie is great and she plays a wonderful person with a heart of gold... her wardrobe was class ,, each week in a stunning dress.

The cinematography is also great and it's really like going in a Time Machine back to London in 1969... red buses , old cars etc,,,it's sad that world is gone (for the worse imo)..Get it on Blue ray the colours are amazing!

There is a lot of fun in every episode and some great guest stars top actors such as. Brian Blessed etc.

But what sets Randall and Hopkirk apart as a tv classic is that you genuinely care for the characters and many of the stories, while very funny , touch at the heart.

It's a comedy but it's really about friendship, brotherly love, respect and doing the right thing,,, it has a lot of HEART

10/10.

I Love Lucy (1951–1957)
7/10
Season One is classic but quality drops from S2
18 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I watched the first season with my family and I was in tears laughing for the most of it ,, it really is a comedy classic . Season one has only a few dud episodes but most are just innocent fun and some hilarious situations that Lucy finds herself in.

Season 2 started good but a big change in the show happened halfway through season 2 when 'little Ricky' was introduced . Towards the end of season 2, I was finding I was laughing very little and the comedy had become very stale and predictable .

By season 3 it becomes almost unwatchable , I managed to make my way through it but it was almost cringeworthy. Lucy has morphed into an annoying, manipulative, lying, mean, selfish , self absorbed, childish, person ... and what's worse the episodes contained very little laughs. Even Fred and Ethel become boring and predictable . Desi carries the show and the only real laughs I got were from him , mostly from his English phrasing . I have watched up to 'oil wells' episode from season 3 and this is a slight improvement but still way off the standard of season one.

Admittedly I have not watched seasons 4-6 but to be honest I can't see things improving but I will keep an open mind

Season 1 ~ 9/10 Season 2 ~ 7/10 Season 3 ~ 5/10

Overall = 7/10.

I Love Lucy: Baby Pictures (1953)
Season 3, Episode 5
3/10
This is the poorest episode of the whole series
28 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Season One of I Love Lucy is one of the most laugh out loud seasons of comedy ever on tv . Season two was a big drop in quality especially since the baby was introduced . Now almost half a dozen episodes of season three i have barely laughed out loud. This episode is in a word awful . I really hope it improves from here on. I bought the dvd boxed set of this series based on season one.

Season one 10/10 Season two 6/10 Season three(so far) 4/10.

Hopefully seasons 4-6 pick up again but I can't see it getting back to the class of season one 'Equal rights ' is the best episode of season three so far.

My Name Is Earl: Get a Real Job (2007)
Season 2, Episode 22
5/10
A big drop off in quality from season 1
28 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Season One of My name is earl is brilliant . Season Two is ok but not half as funny . It was an unwise move to stray from the list and def contained episodes ... as season two has gone on it lost something in my opinion . By the end of this season it had completely ram out of steam and ideas . The storyline thread about joy and her court case wasn't funny at the start but they somehow decided to milk it for all it's worth . My Name Is Earl season one is an all time classic but unfortunately Season two fails to deliver the same standard . After watching it I have no motivation to see seasons 3 &4.

Alfred Hitchcock Presents: The Legacy (1956)
Season 1, Episode 35
4/10
Worst episode of season one
16 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm currently making my way through the Hitchcock presents complete dvd box set and this is the poorest episode so far ... A prince try's to woo an over 30s housewife and claims he is in love with her and tells her that if she doesn't leave her husband for him, he will kill himself . The next day news comes in that he dies in a car crash and the woman thinks he killed him self because of her . A friend of hers then finds out that it was not a suicide but an accident. He goes to tell her only to find out that she is over the moon in love with her husband and instead of feeling guilty about the guy commiting suicide , her ego has taken a huge boost ,,, so her friend decides not to tell her the truth in case of deflating her ego.

This episode is truly one of the dumbest stories I've ever heard or sat through. Leaves a serious bad taste in the mouth.

The Dick Cavett Show (1968–1988)
1/10
Legendary music guests but awful interviewer
15 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I picked up the dvd box set of this show entitled 'Rock Icons'. While the performances are fantastic , the questions asked by Cavett are of the dumbed down variety . Yes, He had some great guests with interesting careers on his show but his questions were so embarrassing (and often cringeworthy) like 'what do you have for breakfast ' ? ... and constantly cracking unfunny jokes that for some strange reason the audience seemed to find funny . I sat through all 9 episodes on the box set and I just don't get the attraction . His interview with Sly Stone , David Bowie and Debbie Reynolds were especially bad . Dick Cavett was a precursor to many of the modern mainstream talk shows that have no substance whatsoever ... I'm giving 1 stars because the rock performances are great that was nothing to do with Dick Cavett and his stupid dumb jokes and superficial meaningless and cringeworthy questions .

I'm glad these rock performances exist but this itself is awful popcorn for the masses .

The Leftovers (2014–2017)
1/10
One of the worst shows I have ever sat through
12 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I just don't understand why this garbage has an average rating of 8.3/10, I watched the first four episodes which is enough for me to know that this is an awful show and here are my main reasons why.... If I could give the show a 0/10 I would.

1. Even though it's based on a very interesting premise, the reasons for what happened at the beginning of episode one (i.e. 2% of the world population dissapearing) is not explored. It is set up as a sci fi show but is anything but ... instead it is a akin to a bad soap opera ..

2. The cult that do not talk but spend all their time smoking makes zero sense. I just couldn't see the point.

3. The needless, unnecessary and overuse of bad language and expletives throughout (the f word especailly was very annoying)....

4. The teenagers are protrayed in this as having a very low IQ and being idiots. The scene in episode one of 'choke sex/masturbation' is very disgusting and horrible. It's as if this show was 'normalizing' this act or something. There was also a disgusting scene in episode 4 where one of the teenagers thinking it's funny to put his private parts of top of a baby dolls head. Neither of these scenes add anything to what exists of a storyline so why include them? Some of the other reviewers are calling this tv show 'a spiritual' experience and that everything happens for a reason...well does that include the choke sex masturbating scene and the one with them urinating on a doll (what was supposed to be the 'baby Jesus')? It's terrible.

Maybe it's a sign of the world we live in now that this tv show is rated so high at 8.3 whereas several better older tv shows like 'The Fugitive' have a lower average rating even though the writing, acting and direction is a million times better. Some reviewers saying that this is the best tv show of all time says it all. It in no way compares to Breaking Bad or the original Twilight Zone and to do so is very disrespectful to those shows...

So my advice is to avoid this terrible mindless mess at all costs. It's 4 hours of my life that I will never get back....

Northern Exposure (1990–1995)
3/10
I expected a lot with the high ratings ...but very dissapointing
24 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ok ..admittedly, I have only watched one season of this but I just could not get into it. The very first episode (pilot) is decent and sets up an interesting premise. I gave it 7/10 a good start. However, after a few episdoes I had to force myself to keep watching it, as a few elements of the plot line didn't sit right with me, firstly the constant bickering between Dr Joel and Maggie wore thin very quickly became repititious and tiresome, but more so I just couldn't get by the plot line of both Hillings and Maurice having a romantic interest in the character Shelly , old men over three times her age (Shelly is 18 in many ways still a child, Hollings ...a 62 year 'old' man) ....one making her pregnant... and the other passing sassy comments espeically in the earlier episodes. ..maybe this was acceptable in 1990 but for me in 2023 it's just plain creepy and more than a bit uncomfortable (the episode where Holling went tracking a bear and spent 2 days conoodling with her in a tent was especially cringeworthy). I did laugh a few times but for the most part I found it all a bit silly, juvenille and hard to get through. The characters were bland as could be. I couldn't resonate with even one character. Season one is meant to be one of the better seasons of it too. If this is one of the 'finest tv series ever' then i must be watching a different tv series...

Life on Mars (2006–2007)
2/10
Over Rated show with little substance
6 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this when it first came out in 2006 and liked it and thought it was entertaining . However I went back to it recently , 17 years later, and found that it was not near as good as I remembered . The storylines were very predictable and the jokes cringe inducing especially from cop Gene. (To a woman witness: 'Anything you want to get off your chest' .. is this aimed at 12 year olds or something??) .. I eventually had to give up after 5 episodes ,, each one worse than the next until I got to episode 5 the one where a ManU fan is found dead.... this episode contains some of the worst acting I've ever seen,, like the part where one of the cops gets caught in a football net and has one of the most pathetic punch up /brawl sequences I have ever seen. The main mystery of the story is still mildly interesting but the silly police stuff in between (90% of it) is just woeful ,, each one like a very bad episode of Starsky & Hutch,,, only with a lost less class ...

Great little episode
3 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is a great little suspenseful episode with great acting and keeps you guessing until the end with a twist ending. It is definitely of my favourite Hitchcock presents episodes from season one. The lower scores out of 10 baffle me because if you don't like this episode why are you watching Hitchcock presents in the first place? It's not absurd at all it tells the story of what can happen with time and how people can grow apart and also what greed can do .,Recognised the main character from the movie Rosemary's Baby which he appeared in a few years later. Lastly Hitchcocks epilogue is quite funny.

Most dates episode of the Andy Griffith show
25 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I found this one cringeworthy ,, it really gives the wrong message ,,, there is so much pressure on kids today and I think the suggestion here is that the self worth of a child is equal to passing a 'test' or 'going to college' ... unfortunately too often this message ends up later with a child growing up thinking this is what value is and when they don't meet 'expectations' falling into a despair full state . A parent should love their child unconditionally and not push them like Andy does in this episode ,, as it can actually do lasting damage especially at that crucial age when their minds are developing . Sad to see a show that had so much wisdom in it up to this point fall to this low . The end conversation between son and father is nice but not enough to rescue this episode.

Raised by Wolves (2020–2022)

Started off well but devolved into politised nonsense
18 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As a fan of Alien and Sci-fi I really enjoyed the first couple of episodes of this.., it caught my imagination with what the mystery of the planet and the cinematography was just breathtaking. However ,, about half way through season one I noticed a more than obvious political message being pushed ,, in a very less than subtle way and I felt it was pidgeon holing religious people as dangerous extremists. I'm not even religious but I am not atheist either ,, I have an open mind to all possibilities. On top of that it got very slow moving and even though I tried to persist hoping it would get better,, by the 2nd episode of season 2 I had little clue to what the hell was going on. The final straw for me was when a gigantic flying snake appeared and our supposedly young hero said it was actually friendly and later on told off /chastised his mate that 'androids' ie: high tech non human machines /computers ,, should be afforded the same rights and respect as human beings!! Lol...I gave up at that point what pure and utter garbage! God help us if this is the kinda rubbish the youth of today are watching.
