My Norwegian Holiday (2023)
Wonderful and Heartwarming
I don't review movies as if I were a professional movie reviewer, but rather, I speak to the cast, setting and how it makes you feel. My Norwegian Holiday is another Hallmark Channel winner! The cast was fantastic and very natural and believable. The two leads, Rhiannon Fish and David Elsendoorn were wonderful and you feel like you're watching real people and not actors. It was filmed in Bergen Norway, which is beautiful, so the scenery is amazing. The story is uplifting, happy, well done and inspiring. This is a warm, happy and wonderful holiday movie and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
A Biltmore Christmas (2023)
Absolutely wonderful
Hallmark does it again with A Biltmore Christmas! What a wonderful, happy, upbeat Christmas movie! Kristoffer Polaha and Bethany Joy Lenz are perfect together and as always, they are marvelous. The whole cast did a great job and Biltmore was the perfect setting. Hallmark has been bringing us some fantastic Christmas movies this year and this one is our favorite so far. When a movie makes you feel warm and tingly with happiness like this one did, you know it's a winner. Watch A Biltmore Christmas and it will warm your heart, make you smile and help you to remember how much good, upbeat and positive movies like this matter.
Notes of Autumn (2023)
A Winner!
I'm not a movie critic and I don't pretend to be one. My reviews are all about if it's good or not - Notes of Autumn is wonderful. The cast is fantastic and has really good chemistry. The movie flows perfectly, has great vibes, scenery and music. The storyline works really well and comes across as realistic - you don't feel like you're watching a bunch of actors, but rather, you feel like you're watching real people.
This is a movie that makes you feel upbeat and is another winner for Hallmark Channel. I hope they make more movies like Notes of Autumn since we need more cheer in this world and people really appreciate them.
When Calls the Heart (2014)
Used to Love it Until Season 10
I used to love When Calls the Heart and we've watched every season. After season 10, we won't. Viewers had spoken loud and clear and we wanted Elizabeth and Lucas. Nathan to be honest, is abrasive. Now, they decide to upend it and Elizabeth may go back to Nathan?! Absurd. Elizabeth has become a whiny, wishy-washy unlivable character and if she ends up with Nathan, the show will lose a lot of viewers. The. Writers need to get their act together, because this back and forth is alienating many viewers and clearly, they're out of good ideas. As for Elizabeth, she needs to stop being so annoying and Nathan needs to move far away.
3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost (2023)
A Charming and Happy movie!
3 bed, 2 bath, 1 ghost is a thoroughly charming and bright movie. About a gorgeous historical home with a sweet and mischievous ghost and a couple with great chemistry who belong together, the movie has a fabulous cast who work great together. Chris McNally is as always, the very handsome, wholesome and charming leading man and he comes across as a natural. Julie Gonzalo is wonderful, as is Madeline Arthur who plays Ruby.
This movie is a winner and I know you'll enjoy watching it as much as we did! It's the type of movie that proves that Hallmark Channel knows what the audience wants and loves.
Red, White & Royal Blue (2023)
Absolutely Fantastic!
My reviews aren't like "expert" reviews - I leave in depth reviews to the professionals. As for mine...I loved this movie! We eagerly waited for Amazon Prime to air this movie and tonight, we watched it and it exceeded all expectations. What a witty, happy, exciting and beautiful movie! The entire cast was amazing and the main actors, Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine were amazing! They had great chemistry and were so believable in their roles. Our world can be so full of hatred and darkness, but a happy movie like this shows us all that love matters -- love is love and we have to let people be themselves and love who they love. See Red, White and Royal Blue and you'll love it as much as we did and it will put a smile on your face!
A Man Called Otto (2022)
Absolutely Oustanding
If you read a negative review of this movie, ignore it. A Man Called Otto is fantastic and the movie has so many hidden messages and social commentary. At times, you will dislike Otto, but then love him because we can all relate to his moods. Once you "get him," you totally understand Otto. It made us cry and laugh and also made us feel inspired and filled with hope. Tom Hanks is as always, brilliant. The entire cast is amazing and relatable and natural. I'm glad we decided to watch A Man Called Otto and I believe once you do, you'll be glad you did. I hope they start making more quality movies likes this, since we really need them.
The People We Hate at the Wedding (2022)
Absolutely hysterical
I cannot understand the negative reviews on here. Lighten up people! The People We Hate at the Wedding has an absolutely amazing cast and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's goofy, yet poignant as well and the comedic timing and delivery is terrific. I found that the movie got better and better and this is why I liked it so much - is it Academy award worthy? No, but it never claimed to be. I appreciated the whole cast, but found Kristen Bell, Allison Janney and Ben Platt to be especially good. Watch this movie and just enjoy the goofy humor - after all, we can all use some of that these days, can't we?
A Fabled Holiday (2022)
A Magical Gem
A Fabled Holiday is an absolute gem! Something magical draws 5 people to the beautiful Gingerbread Inn in Wunderbrook - and its here that the folks who run the inn will work their magic and wonders to heal these 5 guests. This is a bright, happy and uplifting movie and I hope that Hallmark makes more like this. The cast is fantastic and Ryan Paevey and Brooke D'Orsay are especially awesome! They're naturals and one feels like they're watching the characters and not actors playing a role. Cast these two more Hallmark! Great movie, beautiful sets/scenery, fantastic cast and a wonderful story line!
Haul Out the Holly (2022)
Hallmark retains the crown
Hallmark proves it is the home for Christmas movies. Haul Out the Holly is a fun, upbeat, energetic Christmas gem and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The storyline is great, the entire cast is outstanding and the decor, pace and flow of the movie is fantastic. We were also very happy to see Kristoffer Polaha and Eric Mabius in this one! Hallmark has put out some really wonderful Christmas movies this season and Haul Out the Holly is one of them. They really know what the audience wants and they've had some great storylines. See this movie, because you won't be disappointed at all and will enjoy it as much as we did.
Three Wise Men and a Baby (2022)
Fun, Lighthearted Holiday Movie!
Three Wise Men and a Baby is a very nice change from the traditional Hallmark Christmas movie. About three very different brothers who find themselves taking care of a baby right before Christmas, this movie is fun, has great pace and energy and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The cast is absolutely outstanding and they all have a very natural and comfortable chemistry with each other. I hope Hallmark makes more movies like this one and also uses the very talented cast in other movies, because they're terrific. Watch Three Wise Men and a Baby because I'm very confident you'll enjoy it as much as we did!
Six Degrees of Santa (2022)
Steve Lund is great
Steve Lund really made this movie one that I thoroughly enjoyed. The storyline is okay and the rest of the cast is good, but Steve Lund is the standout who kept me interested and I found that I wanted to watch as his character and storyline evolved. I tend to prefer Hallmark movies, but when I saw Steve Lund was in Sux Degrees of Santa, I decided to give this Lifetime movie a try and I'm glad I did. Overall, nice movie, nice story and atmosphere and well worth watching, especially if you're a fan of holiday movies and Steve Lund, who is talented, gorgeous and a very likable actor who is also sweet.
Riverdale (2017)
Dark and Trashy
This show started out great, but season 2 is nothing but trash and all drugs, sex, organized crime and murder. I'm very disappointed in what started out as a good show. As for the main characters, they went from good kids to self-absorbed sociopaths. Archie is particularly disappointing. Riverdale had a lot of potential, but decided to go the route of sex, drugs, violence and filth. I don't recommend this show for anyone under age 17. Not sure if I'll watch season 3 because it's gone from bright to dark and trashy. Why can't shows just stay clean and more wholesome? There is an audience for quality.
Enola Holmes 2 (2022)
Absolute fun!
I loved Enola Holmes part 1 and I love part 2 just as much. Its a fun, upbeat movie that moves along at the perfect pace. Millie Bobby Brown is absolutely fantastic, as are Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter. The cast is wonderful and the storyline keeps you guessing, so it's a true mystery and the scenery/sets are great, so it really feels like a realistic period piece.
If you're looking for a clean, fun, entertaining movie, this is it. I hope they make another one, since we need movies like this. It appeals to the whole family, but teenage girls in particular would probably love it. See this movie, because you won't be disappointed.
Why Didn't They Ask Evans? (2022)
Absolutely Fantastic!
I've seen the previous movie "Why Didn't They Ask Evans," which was excellent, but this adaptation is fantastic! My reviews tend to be more or less centered on why it was or wasn't good and I leave in-depth reviews about storyline, acting, directing, etc. Up to the professionals.
Why Didn't They Ask Evans was beautifully done. The actors were all outstanding, especially Will Poulter and Lucy Boynton. The scenery wonderful and the story flowed seamlessly. It was a perfect mix of drama, intrigue, mystery and a touch of comedy.
This adaptation was a pure pleasure and if you love Agatha Christie as much as I do, you will not be disappointed. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did!
The Sandman (2022)
So Far So Good
I'm on episode 6 and so far the series is great. I don't understand the negative reviews and input -- its a fantasy series and they're best when they're a bit unpredictable -- the whole point of entertainment or keeping the viewer engaged is to change things up a bit. After all, if it was just like the comic, it would be predictable.
The lead actor is great in his role and so far, the cast in general has been top notch. The storyline keeps me interested and the change in worlds/realities keeps me engaged. Boyd Holbrook as Corinthian is outstanding and. I couldn't help but like his character because Boyd is so good in the role.
I could go on and on about plot lines and dialogue and how this actor said this line or that line, but why? It's a show...its fantasy and the point is to not read too much into it or over think it -- the point is to enjoy it for what it is.
Personally, we need more series like the Sandman and I'm glad Netflix is bringing us quality shows like this one.
Love in the Limelight (2022)
Cute movie
This is a cute movie. Summer and Nick play somewhat vulnerable characters - one shy, one whose confidence is down. They're very likable and you find yourself rooting for them, because they're like regular people that we can all relate to. Having relatable characters is key to a movie's success and Love in the Limelight has that.
Good cast and storyline help to make this an enjoyable movie to watch and Carlos can really sing, so that adds realism. Alex is very talented and she doesn't disappoint in this role.
Hallmark has been making movies that are different than it's usual model and Love in the Limelight is one of those, so it's refreshing. Watch and enjoy.
The Black Phone (2021)
Very good!
The Black Phone is really a good movie. Its the perfect mix of realistic terror that we read about all the time, with a supernatural twist. Its scary because it's creepy and eerie -- it shows us the evil people are capable of and the kind of terrible things that happen in our world all the time. Its well done, the cast is excellent and as a horror movie fan, this one really creeped me out and after seeing it, you'll make sure to lock your doors and pay attention when you're out in public a lot more. See it, appreciate the story line, eerie setting/atmosphere and the really talented cast.
Master (2022)
What??
I thought this was a supernatural thriller and it starts out that way. Great cast, spooky atmosphere, hinting at something scary and other worldly and as always, Regina Hall is terrific. But then...it just sort of all falls apart and I have no idea why or to what end. The movie is, I think, all about race and that is not the movie I wanted to watch. To be honest, I think people need to know if the movie is a commentary on race issues, or a true, supernatural thriller. Also, you know...enough. I don't appreciate watching a movie that is basically "all white people are evil and always have been..." which is exactly the message I got in the last 10 minutes of the movie. The trailer gives you a whole other idea about what the movie is about, so that mislead.
Cast is great and Regina Hall is as always excellent, but this movie disappointed because it had so much incredible promise.
Locke & Key (2020)
Good, but frustrating
Locke and Key is a good show overall, but it is maddeningly frustrating. Is it a Teenventure? It's hard to know. But the kids in the show say and do the most frustrating things - like there's an unconscious evil being on their floor and they and their friends use that moment to chit-chat.
The cast is very talented, but the mother, sister Kinsey and Ellie are the most frustrating, even annoying characters - Kinsey will come up with an idea, Tyler will question it, Kinsey will insist on doing it her way and right before they do, she'll question it and act like the bad idea wasn't hers to begin with.
Overall, good show and every actor is talented and does a dood job, especially Connor Jessup, but this show can be really frustrating.
The Sweetest Heart (2018)
Very Uplifting
The Sweetest Heart is a refreshing, uplifting movie! The cast is amazing, the story believable and very positive. Chris McNally is always terrific and he doesn't disappoint as the male lead - he's a natural and warms up the screen with those eyes and smile. If you're looking for a happy, positive movie, The Sweetest Heart is a winner!
Rip in Time (2022)
Wonderful!
Rip in Time was excellent. Fantastic cast, great storyline and beautiful scenery. This one is a nice change of pace from traditional Hallmark movies, so it's refreshing. Niall Matter is a particular favorite of mine, so I hope he appears in more Hallmark movies. If you're looking for a fresh, interesting movie that's clean, upbeat and has a very believable and talented cast, watch Rip in Time!
Enola Holmes (2020)
Thoroughly enjoyable!
What a wonderful movie! If you're looking for a fun adventure movie, you're going to love Enola Holmes. The cast is fantastic and Millie Bobby Brown is extremely talented. Great storyline, beautiful scenery and it flows beautifully. Really enjoyed this one and I wish they made more like it.
Scream (2022)
Really good
The Scream storyline is excellent and the 2022 continuation of the story is great. Cast is fantastic, totally keeps you guessing and it's so nice to have so many of the original characters back. Watch this one for what it is and don't be overly analytical...it is a movie after all. Really enjoyed it!
The Madame Blanc Mysteries (2021)
Thoroughly fantastic!
The Madame Blanc Mysteries has been a joy to watch. The storyline is believable, the cast fantastic and setting/scenery beautiful. The show offers a very good mix of mystery, comedy and romance and Mrs. White's character and Dom are particular favorites. If you're looking for a good, clean mystery series, this one will not disappoint.
