Room (2015)
This movie is worth watching just to see the performance by Jacob Tremblay
The book is brilliant, heart-wrenching, and visual. I must admit the child playing young Jack did so with poise and grace. An actor I cannot wait to see more from.
I was disappointed by the performance of Brie Larson. She just didn't provide the flesh Ma had in the book, justice was not paid to the character. There were moments where it felt like Larson was reading from a blurry teleprompter. Ma was tragic without being weak. Larson was not able to provide that feeling. The supporting cast were outstanding enough to carry the slack. I was gobsmacked when she (Larson) won the Oscar. This performance is proof that money can buy you a statuette.
I am giving the film five stars for Young Master Tremblay and the others that make this film worthy of a serious look. Which is a shame, the transfer from page to screen was genuinely awesome.
To Love, Honor and Deceive (1996)
Some One Has No Clue...
The writer has no clue about courtrooms, or the FBI. It was so majorly disappointing. It is hard to follow along there is so little continuity.
Mrs Carpenter (Vanessa Marcil) is confusing. From the start we are to believe she is stupidly in love with her husband. After the accident she shows very little care for him. If she had no clue about his past why does she show so much apathy toward him? I understand wanting to save your son, but not a moments thought to rescuing him.
Matthew (Thomas Gibson) is the only thing good about this movie. Rosalind Chow is good as well. The detective is droll, the FBI agent is painful to watch, the plot holes are dangerous, and the end is predictable. With all of the stuff that is left undone it is just frustrating.
I left two stars for Gibson and Chow's sake.
The Blacklist (2013)
Spader is Brilliant. Boone is Abysmal
The idea is great. The potential is there. I have no idea why they went from clever to soap opera. James Spader makes this show. His performance is consistent even though the plot got lost along the way. He has kept Red intriguing, human, and solid no matter the schlock is being served around him. I also need to give a shout out to Dembe, he is the perfect bodyguard, and Mr Kaplan, she was awesome. This show would be a thousand times better if the character of Lizzy was played by an actress with talent. The actress that plays her delivers her lines like she is bored. She has two facial expressions blank and constipated. There is no way she would be an FBI agent, she is honestly too vacuous. Boone is the whole reason I stopped watching this show, no matter how much intrigue, action, or suspense written she delivers monotonously. I think the other actors are hog tied by her making what would be stellar into unfortunate predictability.
Blown Away (2019)
The Most Talented Blower Did NOT Win...
There were many beautiful pieces, and it was fun to see the creation process. The host Nick Uhas is engaging. In my opinion the artists did not get a fair judgement. Katherine Grey is far, far from impartial, her ego and haughty attitude disturbed me. It is obvious from the second episode who she favours. No surprise that is who won.
Criminal Minds: Truth or Dare (2019)
I Threw Up In My Mouth A Little
I am literally squicked!! The thought of JJ and Reid as anything more than sister/brother is just wrong. JJ is married. Spencer is her children's Godfather. Will is Spencer's friend. It's creepy. It's weak writing. It's a cheep shot.
You want a powerful moment bring back Hotchner. That will stun the audience.
I love that Rossi is getting a happily ever after. (I hope)
