Asteroid City (2023)

Far from Anderson's best.

First and foremost, this has to be the most fantastic casting I've ever seen in a movie; the acting is amazing.

Oh, the visuals, they are incredible in the most Wes-like way. I actually found all the production design very beautiful.

And I am, for one, a great fan of the quirky dialogues of all Anderson's films; if you like those odd interactions between characters that are trademarks of his films, you will like it here as well.

But here comes the main problem of the film, and that is the plot. It's shallow, and the character development is just uneven.

All in all, if you are a Wes fan, you should give it a try, but this doesn't stand out as one of his best movies.

Apocalypse Now (1979)

My favorite movie ever

I can't say enough about this movie. It is perfect in every way, Coppola is an absolutely genius for creating such a masterpiece.

It is a movie that in my opinion shows how the depths of a war works like few others. The acting is superb, even tough is 2 hours and 30 minutes long it sure doesn't feels like it, you are simply immersed in the jungle, in it's cruelty for the entire time runtime.

If you haven't yet you should definitely watch Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse as well. There he goes to show the incredible amount of work, discipline and dedication he had to have to complete this movie. Kudos to him and his madness, it all pays off in a big way.

A MUST WATCH.
