Gully Boy (2019)
9/10
A magnum opus from Bollywood!!!
24 February 2019
I used to think that Ranveer has delivered his career best in Padmavat, but no, I was wrong.. his career best was yet to come and it has finally arrived in form of "Gully Boy". But before getting on the performances, first starting with the movie. They are very few movies which inject an energy blast in you and make you someone different as you step out of the movie theatre. Gully Boy is one of this kind, it enters in your mind first and then it captures your heart and then, you are all cheering Ranveer Singh, rapping on the stage. The movie and the rap seem to be so real that you could feel the energy, thrill, and zeal of it. You find yourself one among the audience and you just want to cheer Ranveer Singh aka Gully Boy to increase his adrenaline, so he can deliver his best rap performance.

Zoya Akhtar put the soul to the movie with her flawless and impeccable direction. She carries the movie in such a realistic way that it makes you think that all the character and incidents are real and you are right there and watching them.

But the spirit of "Gully Boy" lies in its character and their marvelous performance. As, I started with Ranveer Singh, who has undoubtedly delivered his career-best makes you forget the ups and downs of your life with its stubbornness, zeal, energy level and electrify raps. Alia Bhatt as we all know is a wonderful actress has once again proved that she is the leading lady of Bollywood, in such a short span of her career in the film industry, she has stunned us with so many amazing performances. In Gully Boy too, she has once again impressed and entertained us with her impeccable dialogue delivery and facial expression. She is just awesome. After the leading pair, another character who has left his mark in the movie is the debutant "Siddhant Chaturvedi" the young atom bomb. He played his character to the utmost point and leaves us praising and cheering form him while watching the movie. He is undoubtedly the next vVcky Kaushal of Bollywood. Great debut by him. Rest all the support cast was good.

The last but and least, the thing without that this movie cannot be completed is its raps. The raps are so good, much much better than Honey Singh and Badshah. I wonder how talented people are. The lyrics and the music both are so awesome and electrifying that they take a fiery and zestful you out of you.

So. at last I want to say that "Gully Boy" is one of the movies which will entertain you, make you think, will groove you with its music and stunned you with the power-packed performances involved.

In short, if you want to see something real and different, do not wait, just head towards the cinema hall.

Golmaal Again (2017)
2/10
With Golmaal Again, it has proved that Golmaal series is deteriorating with its each and every new offering!!!
24 October 2017
I already knew that this movie is going to be a big torture since I had lost confidence in Rohit Shetty after his big blunders- Dilwale and Golmaal 3. But since I had already watched Secret Superstar with my friends and my parents wanted to watch a movie, I had to choose Golmaal Again. And Trust me, it was worse than what I thought. It was like a nightmare to tolerate this garbage for 2.5 hours. I could have left the theater in the middle, but my parents said that it would be a wastage of money, which we had spent for tickets. So I sat and watched.

Now coming to the essence, this movie has only a few seconds during which you can actually laugh. Seriously I am not exaggerating anything, the movie has only one or two scenes during which I really felt to laugh that too for very few seconds. Now rating each and every sphere of the movie.

Story: The film doesn't have any story-line. Nothing!!! A plain boring journey with no humor, no horror, and suspense. I agree, film poster already says "no logic only magic", but at least there should be some humor, there should be some good performances. But not a single moment of entertainment. Plain boring and forced story (not worth telling at all). 0/10 for the story.

Direction: Another dismal and miserable attempt of Rohit Shetty to make people laugh and this time it has got worse than it could be. He knows it really well that how to fool people by taking a huge star-cast and releasing his movie around a big festival. 1/10 for direction.

Performances: The movie is filled with tons of stars. But none of them makes an impact expect Johnny Lever and Prakash Raj. Ajay Devgn is one of my favorite actors in Bollywood, but in this movie even he seems helpless, trapped between poor story and no scope to perform. Another big disappointment was Tusshar Kapoor who also fails to create humor. Rest of the star cast just blindly followed whatever said to them. 2/10 for performances. One each for Johnny Lever and Prakash Raj.

Music: Music has nothing to do in the film. But still, it is OK and accompanied by a good choreography.

Cinematography: The ONLY thing that gave pleasure to my eyes was the terrific beauty of Ooty, which was well captured in this film. I had never thought Ooty to be so beautiful. This film has really created an urge in me to visit Ooty during my next vacation. 10/10 for cinematography.

The last verdict: Golmaal: the fun unlimited was awesome, Golmaal Returns was average, Golmaal 3 was poor and Golmaal Again is the worse thing you can see in a comedy movie. It is a complete waste of time and that time can be spent better somewhere else. If you really like people slapping others and making them bounce and spin here and there and you call it a comedy, you can go for it, otherwise, please go for Secret Superstar, it is a way better movie and a must watch.

A perfect Diwali gift from A "Secret Superstar"!!!
20 October 2017
Secret Superstar is one of the few movies that travel far with you and you just carried away along with them. It is a story about motherhood (an unceasing and endearing relationship between a mother and a daughter), about dreams and struggles to achieve them. This movie marvelously illustrates if you really have a dream and you have the will to fulfill it, then no matter how bad the circumstances are, you will turn your dreams into reality. It beautifully explains the sacrifices a mother can make to make her child happy and his/her dream come true.

Now coming to the plot/story which is a backbone of this wonderful movie: The story is very engaging and mesmerizing. It is highly inspiring and filled with a lot of emotions and unforgettable moments. Some scenes are the real heart-stealer like scenes between Insiya (Zaria Wasim) and her mother (Meher Vij), the first meeting of Shakti Kumar (Aamir Khan) and Insiya and last few minutes. This film will also make you nostalgic for your school love and crushes. 10/10 for Advait Chandan's highly inspiring and emotional story. Phenomenal -10/10.

Direction: Advait Chandan's direction is terrific and beyond expectations. It doesn't seem that it is his first movie as a director. I didn't expect SO MUCH from him. He has captured the mother- daughter bond brilliantly and framed emotional and tear- jerking moments beautifully. And also, he has put the right dose of humor into the movie.

Performances: The film is loaded with brilliant and mind-blowing performances. After Dangal, Zaria Wasim once again proved that she is a brilliant actor and upcoming "superstar". Her acting is impeccable and extraordinary. She has lived the character of a teenage girl caged by his orthodox and short-tempered father but dares to dream big and tries to fulfill it against all odds. Meher Vij is very natural and realistic. She is very adorable and reminds you of your mother. But, Aamir Khan despite being in a supportive and short role, creates magic. He makes you laugh with his raunchy face expressions and dance moves but also makes you cry with his tearful and heart-warming eyes at the same time. Also, Raj Arjun (Zaria's father) and Tirth Sharma (Zaria's School friend) have played their parts wonderfully. 10/10 in performances.

Music: The music of the film is good. Although, except "Nachdi Phira" none of the songs seems to be a perfect choice for the playlist and to be listened in a repetitive mode. But, when you listen to them in the movie, the songs seem completely different and soothing due to their perfect timings and great lyrics. It would have been terrific if all the songs were as good as "Nachdi Phira". But still, they are pleasurable when you hear them in the movie.

The last verdict: "Secret Superstar" is a very special movie and a perfect Diwali gift from Aamir Khan and Zaria Wasim. It inspires you and makes you nostalgic for your school days. This movie makes you cry and laugh at the same time and connects with you in the best possible way. Don't dare to skip this masterpiece at any cost. Go with your family and loved ones and come out of the theater with tears in your eyes but smile on your face. A MUST MUST WATCH. MIND- BLOWING!!!

Unbearable and completely ridiculous
17 September 2017
One of the worst movies I have ever seen. The worst movie I have ever seen before this was Roy, but trust me this movie has surpassed Roy in terms of story, direction and performances. A complete Nonsense. This could have been made a very good short movie of 20 minutes, but stretching it to 2 hours is really unendurable. If you have poor sense of humor, you might like the obsolete and forced jokes, but otherwise it is a complete piece of crap. I was only able to bear this torture till interval, but trust me spend your time with your family or at home or read something or even count sheep, but don't dare to watch this movie. Trust me friends, we were around 15 friends and all of them were very happy to leave the movie in the middle and everyone was exhausted.

Poor story, direction, forced and repetitive jokes and teachings made this movie "AN UNBEARABLE TORTURE". DON'T DARE TO GO.

Jagga Jasoos (2017)
10/10
Awesome, mind-blowing and feel-good movie...
30 July 2017
This movie takes you on a completely different journey and ends it with a great social message. A very fresh and unique concept that has never tried before. Although, typical Bollywood lovers may find it difficult to connect with the film. This film is not for the masses and caters to only classes.

Direction: Anurag Basu definitely deserves a huge applause for his experiment that really turned out to be wonderful. He dared to think differently.

Story: Story of the film is very gripping and carries a very good social message. The story binds you till the end, but on a condition that you are comfortable with the new film genre otherwise you will end up understanding nothing and leaving the film in the mid.

Performances: When it comes to performances Ranbir Kapoor truly nailed it. It is one of his best performances and deserves an award. His acting is impeccable and realistic. 10/10. Katrina Kaif looks pretty and her performance is justified. Supporting cast such as Saswata Chatterjee and Saurabh Shukla also acted really well. Overall no flaws on performances part.

Music: Music of the film is brilliant especially "Jhumritalaiyya", "Musafir" and "Ullu Ka Pattha". These songs are pleasures to the ears and soothe you mentally.

Cinematography: The cinematography of the film is mesmerizing. You will come to know about the beauty of north-east. After watching the film, you will definitely make your mind to visit north-east India at- least once in your lifetime. This section of our country has its own world filled with excellent Scenery and nature separated from the hotchpotch and mundanity but has grappled with its own set of problems.

In the end, I would like to say that this film is one of the best films of 2017 and deserves to be a hit. But, sadly our audience is not that adaptable for the change, and is content with same monotonous love and revenge drama. But, trust me you won't regret if you enjoy Hollywood flicks, you will find an extraordinary novel attempt with great direction, story, performances, music, and cinematography. Go for it!!! 10/10.

Dangal (2016)
10/10
This is what you call a MASTERPIECE!!!
26 December 2016
Dangal, without any doubt, can be considered as one of the greatest films of Bollywood. It is a kind of movie that shakes you from inside and touches your every emotional cord. The movie splendidly portrays the struggle of a father for his daughters by going against all odds and thus making the country proud.

Director Nitesh Tiwari has magnificently brought the real essence of the film by keeping the authenticity and beauty of the incredible story intact. The direction and screenplay are so good that the representation makes you laugh and cry at the same time, filling your heart with euphoria and proud. 10/10 for this.

But no perfect story can be succeeded without having a proper engine attach to it, and the most powerful engine of this story is Aamir Khan, who I think, has delivered his career best performance. He makes you laugh, astonishes you and fills your eyes with tears. You can easily see a struggling father in him, who is willing to face any hardships and can go to any limit to make his daughters "best of all", and fulfill his dream to make the nation proud. Again 10/10..

Not only Aamir Khan, other stars of the film like Zaira Wasim (young Geeta), Suhani Bhatnagar (young Babita), Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and all other supporting cast have done extremely well and deserve huge applause. Music of the film mixes well with the taste and genre of the movie. The timings of the songs are impeccably perfect.

So in short, Dangal is once in a lifetime movie that not only entertains you with its great story and performances but also makes you think about the strong message ("Mhaari choriyaan choron se kam hai ke?"), it is trying to convey you.

A great film that gives you a great social message by spellbinding you with its great story and presentation. A MUST WATCH!!!

Udta Punjab (2016)
8/10
Studded With Great Performances From The Lead Stars, Udta Punjab Definitely Deserves Thumbs Up!!!
20 June 2016
Not much to say but too much to remember, Udta Punjab is a dark comedy about drug abuse in Punjab state. Filled with hilarious Punjabi tone and mind blowing scenes, the movie certainly takes you on the thrilling yet sensible ride. Although, the film fails in revealing the complete filth about the system, but it is very much understandable since the creativity has its own limitations, especially in India, where people get offensive very easily.

Coming to the movie, Udta Punjab is a perfect blend of sense, entertainment and novelty. Abhishek Chaubey, the director of the film has delivered his best work till date. The way he has depicted the drug abuse in the state with so much of entertainment quotient is a real treat to watch. He definitely deserves accolades for this. Also, Sudip Sharma for penning down such an indulging story with an eye-opening message.

When it comes to music, Amit Trivedi once again reminisced us of his work in Dev. D. 10/10 for his soothing music (especially "Ikk Kudi," the most adorable song of the album with great vocals of Shahid Mallya).

Saved the best thing for the last, "the performances"- the real and most beautiful essence of the movie lies in its characters' performances. Tommy Singh, The Gabru, played by Shahid Kapoor, is a kind of acting you see rarely in today's cinema. He has portrayed the character so well that he reminded me of Punjabi Rockstars I used to listen about when I was in Punjab. His character conveys a strong message to Punjab youth. The true gem of the Bollywood. I have become a fan of his after watching his performance in the movie. The second name in the list is Alia Bhatt, no matter what, whether she knows the name of president of India or not, but she knows the thing she is doing and here for (in Bollywood), impeccable performance from the new star, her best till date. 10/10 And other two pivotal characters, played by Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh spark a maturity in the movie and reveal the dirt of the system in Punjab. They deliver their work very honestly and make the movie perfect. Great Bollywood debut by the Punjabi Star.

Last Words: Udta Punjab is a classic by Abhishek Chaubey and film's lead cast. If you want to see a real cinema with blend of dark humour and quirky dialogues packed with stellar performances, then this is the movie you shouldn't dare to miss....

Kapoor & Sons (2016)
8/10
You can find yourself in this family drama
18 March 2016
kapoor and Sons- Initially, after watching the 1st trailer of the movie, I didn't expect so much from it as the trailer was reflecting the ordinary family drama with lots of useless "wear and tear", but to my surprise, Kapoor and Sons undoubtedly surpassed my expectations with its great logical and touching storyline together with excellent performances from the actors which works like an icing on the cake.

The story is about the differences in a family and how the family members come with the answers to their ignored questions. The most affecting thing about the movie is its direction, the movie goes so smoothly and appealingly that it binds you with itself and you don't be able to slide your attention for a bit. You started finding a connect with the characters in no time. In terms of story, direction and screenplay, the movie is undoubtedly 10/10. When it comes to performances, the real scene-stealer is Rishi kapoor, he reminded me of Amitabh bachchan in Piku, outstanding piece of performance from his side. The second scene-stealer of this 132 mins. family drama is Fawad Khan, how easily he carries his character in the movie is a treat to watch. Apart from these two Alia Bhatt, although in a short role, marks her presence with some terrific moments. Rest of the cast have also worked wonders. Remaining covers the plot and the movie's authenticity with the reality of life. In my honest opinion, this movie is a must watch; go with your family or friends and find the "connect" in this movie with your life.

Ranbir Kapoor- The real king is back!!!
6 December 2015
In Bollywood, there are very few movies that remain with you when you put your steps out of the theater, and this movie is certainly one of those films. If you are a die-hard fan of Ranbir Kapoor then it is marvelous but even if you are not, then also RK and the movie will touch your heart and will capture your mind.

OK, So when it comes to movie's essence, the story is all about finding your true self, and how in today's fake and robotic world, we are losing our real selves and just trying to follow a path we are compelled to see. The protagonist, Ranbir Kapoor who used to be a carefree vagabond; who used to talk to mountains and drink water like an animal somehow loses his identity and gets trapped in this rat race we all are following and then Deepika helps him to find his "reality" and his lost love towards life.

Some scenes of the movie are really soul-stirring; like when Ranbir goes to that old man who used to tell him the stories when he was a child, and finds out the real problem with his (with almost everyone's) life, and also the scene, when Ranbir narrates his story to his parents, he rules all over your heart. Deepika has given another brilliant performance as well.

Music of the film has been composed by music maestro A. R. Rahman, and he has done it outstandingly and gives you a mesmerizing treat. The cinematography is another profound thing in the movie and bestowed you with some brilliant locations of Corsica. Last but not the least, the real mind behind all this- Imtiaz Ali, his direction is really spellbound, though it can appear little baffling to some but once you get into it, it makes you travel with the movie- 10/10 no doubt!.

Final verdict- this movie is a real heart winner and will intrigue you with some extraordinary performances (Ranbir, Deepika, and Piyush Mishra), with great direction and story, superb music and remarkable cinematography. So, don't dare to miss it!!! you will regret when you watch it on T.V. that why I did not watch it at the theater.

Absolutely - 10/10.
