I am an aspiring journalism student studying in Canada's capital, approaching the intriguing age of 19. I enjoy the idea of being conspicuously different from anyone else, yet I feel transparently the same as every other 18-year-old girl you've met. I often ponder about the many ways in which I am a victim of life's petty extremities, yet am optimistic in the sense that I expect only to accomplish great things in the future. I wish I could say that I feel far from where I've been, but I can proudly say I am grateful for where I am.

The Best Hockey Ever Played...In All Of Hockey's History
This was on TV twice, both times I missed it. Luckily, my dad and brother were there watching it, without missing a minute. It was then that we knew this would be one of those movies that was calling our name to be in our DVD collection. This movie was extremely close to the real thing, from what I've heard from my knowlegdable dad and seen from real life footage. I guess anyone who was actually watching the series in '72 would know I mean, better than I do. Anyways, the acting was breathtaking, the sets were amazing, everything was just great. The atmosphere was believable and intense. Unforetunately, I wasn't alive in 1972 to see the real thing. Lucky for me, this movie came into being. It's the next best thing. If you're Canadian, be proud.
Family Guy (1999)
You'll Laugh Your Freakin' Head Off!
"Family Guy" is (in my opinion) one of the funniest shows to hit television...ever! With its clever references, lovable characters, and HILARIOUS jokes, this show will have you laughing VERY hard. While watching this show, you can't help but think "What are they going to make fun of next?" You never really know what to expect, only that it's going to be something clever and funny! I hope this show will have a great impact on television comedy history. It really should. Seth MacFarlane is amazing and has a whole lot of talent.
I recommend this show for anyone who is looking for a good, hard laugh...you WON'T regret ever getting hooked on this show! 10/10!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Perfect Man (2005)
No No No No
Hmmmm, well here's a start. The movie was completely unrealistic. Half of what happened, wouldn't really happen in anyone's average lifetime. Their scheme to find the "perfect man" was pretty crappy, if you ask me. And it wouldn't work.
The acting was okay, but only okay. Nothing special about the characters or anything really. There was really no need for Hilary Duff to be in this movie. She has talent, while the person required to play the main character in this movie could have very well been some random person off the street. As for the friend with the Brooklyn accent, I don't know if it was just me, but the accent was fake-sounding and seemed to weaken throughout the movie.
The one good thing about this movie was the fact that it somewhat shows how a divorced family can feel incomplete. It is put into perspective. Besides that, the making of this movie wasn't very necessary. I'll give this movie a 5/10, but only because the incomplete feeling overpowers its flaws.
Thirteen (2003)
Brace Yourselves...
This movie is scary...and what is scary about it is the fact that it's possible for things like that to happen to thirteen-year-olds.
In my opinion though, some of it is "off the limits". Grade Seven??? You have got to be kidding me. I really was thinking more grade eight/early grade nine range. And the actors were obviously older than thirteen...or at least they looked like it.
As for the actual acting itself; wow. Evan Rachel Wood and Nikki Reed are Brilliant. Holly Hunter was very good as well. They make it all so...real.
So, as I mentioned earlier, parts of this movie are pretty scary when you think about it...the fact that it can really happen. So, think twice before you watch this with a younger child...in fact, don't watch it with a child younger than thirteen at all. And even if your child is thirteen, just be aware of what they are about to see when they watch Thirteen.
A lot of swearing! (Just thought I'd add that in there)
Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005)
Excellent!
Wow, where do I begin?? Great acting, great graphics...great plot! The kids in Zathura are very true to today's standards. I recommend this movie to everyone who wants to see a family film filled with action, to remember for a very long time. Go see Zathura! It isn't exactly a "kid's" movie, as it may seem like one; it's a family movie for all ages. An Excellent choice; I'm glad I went to the theater and saw it. 10/10 with two thumbs way up!
To those who think it's a takeoff of "Jumanji", well you might change your mind after seeing "Zathura". Sure, there may be some similarities (the board game theme), but the actual plot is original.
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
The Story that Touched the World
One word to describe this movie. Wow. I have loved this movie ever since I was about 5 years old. Great acting, Great plot, Great graphics (for 1982, when the movie came out), Great Everything. This is Speilburg at his BEST! And as for Henry Thomas, amazing. No one else could have mastered the character of Elliot. There is definitely nothing I would change about this movie if I was given the opportunity. This is THE movie that touched the world. It still jerks a tear and make my heart feel like it weighs a ton, every time I watch it. It is, overall, outstanding. All of its great qualities earns it a perfect 10/10. Bravo!
Zoey 101 (2005)
Hokey and Unrealistic...so why do I watch it?
I'll admit that I watch this show whenever I get the chance to and whenever I wake up early enough (it's on kind of early for us here in Canada) but every time I do I get even more mad at it. I do like the wide variety of characters, but the show, to me, is too unrealistic for normal standards. The school is perfect, with its Sushi Bar (yes, a SUSHI BAR) and hardly any rules (for example, the guys seem to always be allowed in the girls' dorms - wouldn't happen). Anyways, what bothers me even more is that the main character Zoey (Spears) is perfect, also. She is SO popular, everyone in the whole school seems to know her and completely love her. Example, the episode with the exams. EVERYONE asks Zoey to help her, as if she is the only smart one in the school. Please. And the episode with the backpacks, amazingly, she makes about a hundred of them with those radio things in like what, less than two days...? It always seems like she has an idea for everything, and in the end the whole cast congratulates her and loves her even more. It really bothers me a lot.
Also, on top of that all, I have to say that the acting isn't all that great. Jamie Spears, in my opinion, didn't earn or deserve the main part in this show, if the show had to be made at all. When I first saw her in All That (1995), I thought that she actually had some talent. Well, the role of Zoey Brooks turned me off. She doesn't have much emotion or facial expression in what she says or does. In the very first episode, where she plays basketball, she isn't that good at all. And of course, the coach asks her to join the team and says she is "great". Also, in the episode with the school play, guess who makes the lead role? Yup, you guessed it. Zoey. She can't act, why did she make the lead? And, WHY does every boy want to kiss her? Is she really THAT pretty? And that Nicole (Alexa Nikolas), well she isn't anything special either. Kristen Herrera, even though she left the show, wasn't very good either. All the other actors are typical and somewhat boring. There isn't much going on. I'd have to say that the best actors on the show (my opinion) are Erin Sanders (Quinn) and Paul Butcher (Dustin). They are a little more believable. And I can't stand the fact that, and this happens all the time, The actors aren't true to the age group. They are made to look older than the average grade 8 student (I think they are in grade 8).
Overall, this show bothers me a lot. A lot of it makes you want to just scream "Yeah Right" when you are watching. And I know this is only a show, so pushing the limits is common and bound to happen, but this show sticks out for me. For grade 8 thirteen year olds, they are going to want to be just like Zoey, and they can't. Because Zoey is perfect. She goes to a perfect school, has perfect clothes, is so popular, the list goes on. Not any normal girl. I'm going to give this show a 5/10. Because even though it's as unrealistic as a tween show can get, there's something about it that wants you to keep watching it. I don't mind if I miss it, but if it's on, I'll watch it. 5/10.
