The Witcher: The Art of the Illusion (2023)
Worst episode of the series
So I basically watched this episode 3 times... the third was when I started it over from the beginning trying to figure out why I seemed to be watching an exact repeat of the 20 minutes I had just watched... pretty discouraging that a show of this notoriety pushed an episode like this through with such lazy interpretation you could tell the writers/directors had convinced themselves of as being an intelligent, artistic choice. And boring, like a lame soap opera with the added reminisces that Geralt and Yen had of the night themselves after the fact... this episode might be marking the point of no return for this series.

Xena Warrior Princess in 4k
Costumes are good. Cinematography is excellent. Overall storyline I can't say because the dialogue coupled with the lack of any cohesive dialect or tone threw me off immediately. They all talk like it's 2022 but have indigenous ('Alkenny') chants. Some actors randomly decide to have their own accents based on whatever their own interpretation of what that is. Any closed in shots you can tell the scene is set with fake nature props unless you let your eyes blur or just focus on Jason Mamoa which becomes somewhat cheesy roundabout ground battles. I'm only halfway through the pilot and I know this has a second season and I would bet it probably was renewed for a third because J. M. is the new man's man. Hopefully the production value improved with it but its if no loss to me as there's so much content, so little time.
Tldr; too little world building.
The Gift (2000)
Started watching Sneaky Pete solely based on Giovanni Rivisis' role in this film
Other selling points:
- Cate Blanchett as a small town psychic
- Written by Billy Bob Thornton
- Katie Holmes not as Miss Goody two shoes
- Keanu Reeves in a role that doesn't involve the supernatural
- Rare gem of a well-casted movie without a multi-million dollar budget - Hillary Swank, J. K. Simmons, Greg Kinear, Gary Cole and some more I'll leave as surprises.
