The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Nearly impossible to follow
2 stars for acting, 0 stars for plot and cinematography. No plot movement for an hour, shots that avg. About 4 seconds each and constant clips from the first movie in an attempt to explain what's going on.
Last Night in Soho (2021)
The first Edgar Wright letdown
Let me start by I'm a fan of nearly all of Edgar Wright's movies, especially Baby Driver, but this was a huge letdown. Clearly, the clever shots were priority over the plot.
Although the movie is over 2 hours there are still an overwhelming amount of unanswered questions and plot holes that are never explained. The cinematography & detail to changing roles is great, but that's about where things end.
Here are a list of my own unanswered questions:
1. Are Ellie & Sandy the same person? - Early in the movie they seem to experience the same things like seeing reflections or having a hickey, but later Ellie is watching as events surrounding Sandy unfold.
2. Why are we shown fake scenes of Sandy being stabbed only to have the events reversed where Jack is the victim? - Are we supposed to believe this was a dream sequence?
3. Can we get a little more character development? We're told all about Ellie's family taking a trip to London and her mother's death. It's leveraged early to make us feel pity for the lead role, but none of the events are explained.
4. If the ghosts want revenge on Collins/Sandy...why not just do it instead of trying to convince someone else to kill her? After all, she lives in the house.
5. How is Collins so oblivious? Early in the movie she mentions that she'll need 2 months rent in advance because so many girls leave in the middle of the night. You'd think if you were a serial killer with bodies hidden throughout the house you'd be a bit more on-guard.
These are just a few that I doubt are ever answered.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
Another Awful Burton film that will be loved by 2% of viewers
Creepy and strange just like all the previous Burton films. It also stars most of the actors seen in his previous films. I'm sure it's adored by the non-conformist types because it's different... And I don't mean 'good' different.
Just rewatch the version from 71 and watch Gene Wielder put Depp to shame.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Waiting for Big Mo (2019)
Was there any effort put into this episode?
The gang occasionally walks of screen to grab a prop then return to be berated by Dennis. Some yelling and bad cgi all on the same 15ftx15ft stage.
Midway (2019)
Please save yourself $12 and 3 hours
This is the worst movie that I can currently remember watching. 0 character development, cheesy closeup shots, scenes with no context. (They're hunting ducks, They're at a ball, they're at pearl harbor, they're at a bar, they're on a plane.) It's comical how this movie jumps from terrible cgi firefights but are then magically teleported safely to the next scene. I honestly found myself laughing in disbelief.
Suits: Special Master (2019)
Cheap cgi on bowling pins along with tap dancing
I should've stopped watching this for after season 4. Every episode gets worse.
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
A great Audi commercial
Best Audi commercial ever. I hope they do more of these
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The Gang Makes Paddy's Great Again (2018)
The Gang gets tired of the old Gig
It really seems like everyone is just cashing in with the latest episode. I didn't feel like anyone was in character. For example, Charlie lives in squaller, always has and likely always will. But it appeared that the only effort made in this episode to show that was throwing on an old t shirt. I'm pretty disappointed to see the cast more involved with their other shows which seems to be taking all of their attention away from Sunny.
