Invasion (2021–2024)

If you have the attention span of a goldfish, then this movie is not for you.

I've seen the bad reviews about this show and I think the title invoked an expectation of "Independence Day" action when that's not what the show is about. The reason it is so slow to "start" is because the fast action is happening where the characters are not. It is pretty much how the average citizen would experience an invasion whether alien or from another country: First a lack of information, then a disorganized and ineffectual response, then more and more encounters with the invaders.

It's a good show and not a thoughtless shoot-'em-up as some may have expected, but it is worth sticking with.

Star Trek: Picard (2020–2023)

,,, but the show is turning into a very long, sci-fi version of T. S. Eliot's "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock."

Age has an effect on how we think about things and many younger viewers will probably be impatient with this reflection on age.

I like this show (after all) because it goes deeper.

Sorry for the poetic reference, but Q did also go into Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken".

1883 (2021–2022)

I don't give 10's and don't even like "Westerns". This is a 10.

I'm not even all the way through the first episode, but this is the type of show that just gives you the feeling that they got EVERYTHING right. The sci-fi series, "The Expanse" gave me that feeling. This show does, too.

It's poignant.

It's brilliant.

24 Japan (2020–2021)

It really IS a complete remake of 24!

I watched out of curiosity to see how they did compared to the original (Very Good) but I felt like Japan really 'pulled a China' with this even though it was licensed. They had an opportunity to make it their own and create new plot and content, but they didn't, really. Therefore, the story tends to be incongruous at points.

Outer Banks (2020– )

Entertaining. Well written for younger audiences. Needs better FX.

Definitely for a younger audience, but entertaining. I had to laugh though at the scenes where they're pulling dead bodies out of the water: Even teens can guess what a few hours or days can do to a dead body in water when attacked by crabs, fish, sunlight, lividity ... LOL! So, make-up and special effects were sub-nominal.
