The Freak Brothers (2020)
Counterculture comics rescusitated!
I read the sh** out of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers comics as a kid...usually after smoking a fat doob. This seems pretty true to the original spirit of the comic books...nonsensical and funny. I'm talking in the 80's...the comics were dated by then, but still pretty funny. I know I'm admitting to toking before it was legal, but I'm sure there's a statute of limitations. Either way...I plead the fifth dimension!
Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
Best sci-fi action flick- intelligent, funny and very well acted.
It blows my mind that some inane comic-book tripe like Transformers is topping the charts and not the intensely action-packed yet highly clever and witty "Edge Of Tomorrow".
If you hate knowing anything about a movie before seeing it, then just go see it. But without revealing any spoilers, I can say that unlike most extreme action movies, this one actually has excellent acting, lots of laugh-out-loud moments and not since the TV series "Breaking Bad", with the evolution of the character Walter White, have I seen such a great character-arc.
This is the best movie I've seen in quite a while, and I'd say the best Sci-Fi action flick ever...period. Definitely Tom Cruise's finest performance and Emily Blunt is the first convincing female killing-machine I've seen in a movie. I say that as much for her attitude as for her battle scenes.
I wanted to see it as soon as I saw the trailer for it, but it turned out to be so much better than the trailers led me to believe. It is simply an amazing movie. Seeing it in 3D is just icing on an already delicious cake.
