Spenser Confidential (2020)
Missed chances
Based on a TV series from the 80's.
Unfortunately, this was altered from the original concept beyond recognition.
They also tweaked the characters into three categories. Annoying, Dontcarelessabout, Idiots...
Watching this mess once is enough...
Mark Wahlberg shirtless saves a few scenes. Other than that. Not much worth the mention.
Overall this is pretty easy to forget even existing.
If you really wanna watch this, be a huge fan of any of the actors. For any other reason to watch this, is beyond me...
The original series was basic private detective stories, and had some charm to it. This not so much again...
Expend4bles (2023)
My overall opinion
I thought this movie was entertaining. A 80's influenced action flick. Including some special effects that were a tad cheap. But they did not bother me. I was not expecting this to be world class Oscar nominee movie. I got what I went for. Straight forward action, cheesy lines, entertaining movie.
The biggest negative of the movie was Megan Fox. I just think she was a wrong cast in the role. Very distracting. There are many female actors who would have been better suited for the movie. But I can understand that she is an eyeful.
Highlight of th
e movie was Iko Uwais. He is one of my absolute favourite actors. Jason and Curtis did their roles well too. And Sly, he always deliver action roles :-)
American Song Contest (2022)
Eurovision into American Song Contest
I was afraid of the results how the show will turn out when it was published.
It could have turned out worse, but it just feels like another music show from US
This could be American Idol, Voice, X Factor...
Exactly the same production as those...
For a European, grown with Eurovision... This was cringy to watch....
Mortal Kombat (2021)
Utter NONSENSE
I had high hopes, Lewis Tan...
But even he couldn't blow fire into the character.
Paperthin characteristics, predictable.
Not like the original movie, more campy and not taking it too serious. This version, takes itself way too serious.... Considering it's based on a game....
Don't waste your time on this.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
Substandard
Not too original in anyway. Loads of CGI.
Story line, in one or the other way, feels dragging.
Acting, is just that.
I'm on episode 4... And not getting any better on the way further.
One thing that is absolutely horrible, is the new Captain America. Anything but likeable. His character drives the show lower in every scene he's in....
Tenet (2020)
Some good action scenes
The whole movie was a tad too confusing. Not too easy to follow. Which is why kind of more and more lost interest in the process of watching the movie....
Hollywood (2020)
I had my doubts
But they were proven wrong fast.
I'm not sure how much is fact and how much is fiction. But damnit, this is spectacular work portraying a story of an age in a world that is glorified. But under all glory and glamour the deception, drama...
The settings and clothing. Spot on. And if you are a motor freak like me. It's a spotters wet dream on vehicles.
I, truly, can recommend this. For the story, settings, atmosphere, acting. And there are a few hot guys in it too. Even in leading roles ... Can't complain...
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Solid Series Season 1 / Season 2 Crash and burn
I actually am quite entertained by the series.
The story line was a good and with twists.
This is not like Enterprise, TNG, Star Trek, Voyager, DS9. But standalone continuous story.
Acting and writing solid.
I hope there's a second season...
I had rated first season 9/10. This second season... Is a crash and burn. The story lines are just so... uninteresting. The Borg Queen and Q... They are what you think they are.
I was somehow hoping for TNG genes. But nowhere to be found. This is just made because of they could ...
If there is a third season... I doubt I will be interested enough to watch it....
Extraction (2020)
Confusing
I got the abduction. Rescue. But after that... Completely lost...
Who, huh, what?
The Call of the Wild (2020)
Beautiful Story
This is a proper movie. With a storyline, good acting and building from the start to finish.
For a long time there's not been a movie like this. Not too many extra gimmicks, or CGI hell. The CGI in this movie, is not too much, or over the top.
My favourite movie so far for the year. And I doubt any will top this year.
The War of the Worlds (2019)
Had high hopes for this
But turned out to be... Utter nonsense and crappy execution.
Mediocre acting, boring scenes...
Don't waste time on this...
Child's Play (2019)
Surprise
And that in a good way. The story didn't follow original, but was updated into today's world. Cast was good in their roles as well.
I was pleasantly surprised through out the movie. The young actor played well Andy.
Solid movie
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
The two hours of your life you'll never get back
This is utter waste of time.
If this was meant to be the revival of the Godzilla... was a try in drain.
Boring, predictable, cgi all the way. Not good acting.
Why this ever was done. Is beyond me.
Better left undone.
Wu Assassins (2019)
It's a solid show for its genre
I started to watch the series for two reasons. Iko and Lewis. Also quite a few other familiar faces here. So it's a star studded cast.
The storyline, does flow and grow. Predictably, no huge surprises. Entertaining, that value is in.
CGI department, some good, some not so good.
Music. Well, doesn't bother me, doesn't excite me.
If there's a season 2. I'm in.
Bulletproof (2018)
Brilliant action based cop series
Both Noel and Ashley are playing their roles spot on. Also their chemistry onscreen impeccable.
The action, fast moving storylines, and supporting cast done well.
It has a good bruv feel between the mains, and they work that well. The opening scene of the series. I would go for legendary material. One of my all time favourites.
The only thing I had a problem with was, it's only six episodes. I can't wait for the seson two.
Blindspot (2015)
Strong beginning, and downhill from season 3
The first season was excellent. Storylines tight, action in proper amounts, writing and acting good.
Season two had a little slip, felt a tad repetitive. But it picked up.
Season three. There the problems started. Seemed like ideas ran out. And had to bring in the tired old worldwide conspiracy theory crap.
Season four continues the season three conspiracies. Unfortunately falling seriously flat. Some episodes were pretty ok, but that doesn't save, when majority of episodes were more or less mediocre. Also the big two episode finish of the season... felt bored, cos most of the storyline could be seen coming miles away. Felt bored watching it, cos I knew what, when and how it's going to come out.
I already have a feeling of how season five will start. First few episodes who think who have died, then they will be making a surprise plan and action. Who is tortured (a little before a)escaping or b)daring rescue). And who will be then put away into prison for good, and who will go down fighting in a shoot or blowout. Most likely, I will watch three first episodes of season 5, and stop watching if my thoughts go right...
Moonlight (2016)
A story of growth
Movie was a good one. A story of a guys growth, and him coming to terms with himself.
Was a hard watch, cos personally, I could see somewhat myself and my growth in the story.
Some unpleasant memories from past, and references to my own life...
The actors did awesome job portraying the characters in their roles and brought great depth to story....
Recommend to watch. Not easy story, but takes thought....
Robin Hood (2018)
Robin of all Hoods
I watched this with no expectations. After all the bad reviews and bad talk...
And I was positively surprised. Taron Eagerton and Jamie Foxx were made for the roles.
The story told in this movie, was different from the versions before.
Special effects were surprisingly good and staging thought out.
I do recommend this.
Doctor Who (2005)
Doctor Who Rocks
The new Doctor, Jodie, is amazing. She fits perfectly the job. Also the sidekick crew is good. Different types of people who add up to the stories. I'm all in!!!
FBI (2018)
Decant show
I had no expectations of any sorts.
When I started watching, the show turned out to be well paced, cast proper for their roles. The writing seems solid as well.
The first episode, gave me a feel like it was on air longer. All good, I'm waiting for next episode.
Magnum P.I. (2018)
Surprise. This was one.
Ok, let's start here. Elephant could've walked through the gaps in plot. Acting, not way up there, but i can see the actors growing into their roles.
The only really bad in the first episode was the cgi stunt jump to helo. That was below standards.
Now that's off under the way...
Lada!!! I was sold. That was pure Gold.
Jay Hernandez. I am biased here, but he is one of my all time favourite actors. And he... fits Magnum shoes nicely. And he's Gorgeous :-)
I will definitely give this the same chance as I gave to H50.
Bad Samaritan (2018)
Pretty Decent Movie
Beginning was a little slow, but then soon it picked up.
The movie worked. The plot took kinda turns, you didn't expect.
Acting was good. Carlito was a pleasant surprise :-)
Hawaii Five-0 (2010)
One of my favourites on TV
I have enjoyed the whole series. Of course, given some episodes, and story lines that just doesn't sit well. But those are in minority. At one point, season 6 and 7, there was signs of tiredness. And when some characters left, I was afraid for the future. I had no need to be. The new cast, is excellent.
If Alex and Scott decide to leave after season 8, Beulah and Meaghan are perfect to lead. I will be tuned in for their way on the series. Them two have what it takes.
Over all, characters are well written, and developed, and most story lines are well written. Season 8 has definitely seen a new spark and drive brought in. I am giving high 9 stars for Hawaii. And I do hope, that there's Season 9 in the horizon :-)
I put the spoiler warning, because some people might not know about Daniel and Grace leaving the show....
Extraction (2015)
Kellan Lutz. Hot. But fails to save anything....
A predictable, way too slow paced.
Acting, for the paycheck.
Just not worth the time....
S.W.A.T. (2017)
High Expectations.... fell flat....
No spoilers here. This is based by the three episodes I've seen so far. The acting, is glossy and shined. The story lines.... well, predictable in the least. Writing. No rocket science there. Action scenes, and choreography of those are well done. If this lives longer than 9 episodes... I am surprised.
The story lines... shootout, replacement, street wise as*hole reckless rookie (who actually should be gone...) I don't think I'll finish the 9 episodes. The episode three, had me already loose my concentration... the episode played, while i did other stuff... Not good...
